my heart is broken...

I think you and I are the only ones here to really understand. After having been fans for 15 and 20 years, we are probably the most die-hard Cubs fans here. Too bad your a Michigan fan....and that they lost to the Hawkeyes a couple weeks ago ;) Just playin

So BroChaos, where do we go from here? Honestly, baseball season is officially over for me. I could care less who wins. But if I have to pick a team to win.... Any good self-respecting Cub fan, or any fan, can't cheer for the team that just beat them. DOWN WITH THE MARLINS!!! And I don't want to be the only fans in baseball with a "curse", and a world series drought that's longer than the Sahara's. So I say DOWN WITH THE RED SOX!!! That brings us to the Yankees. How anyone can root for the Yanks, is beyond me. They are the M$ of baseball. They haven't earned their victories, they've bought them. Steinbrenner went out and bought some hitmen to make up for the terrible job he's done drafting and bringing guys up through the minors. I'll say this, if you don't live in New York and you root for the Yankees, GET OFF THE BANDWAGON!! Pick a team near you!! I went to the Iowa-Duke basketball game a couple years ago in Chicago at the United Center. Of course Iowa fans dominated the stands, but there where quite a few Duke fans there. More than would travel from Carolina. There's 7000 colleges in Chicago!! PICK ONE!!! So any self-respecting baseball fan outside of NY must say....all together now.....DOWN WITH THE YANKEES!!!

So that leaves us Cubs fans with zero teams to cheer for. What do we do? Who do we root for? The commercials have been OK, but nothing to get excited about. The announcers do a good job of staying on the middle ground....no favoritism. But come on, cheering for the announcers. *sigh* Which brings me to the only recourse we have left, which is the first point I made....baseball season is over, BRING ON FOOTBALL!!!

I don't care about the WS anymore. It would be cool if the Bosox won, but it would've been the most exciting thing ever if it had been a Cubs-Bosox series. Hizenga (sp?) dismantled the Marlins almost the day after they won in '97 and it wouldn't suprise me if the current owner did the same thing again this year. As for the Yankees...it's been a lifelong hate because mom was a Yanks fan (she even said hi to Mickey Mantle as he was leaving the stadium after a Yanks-Senators game) and I grew up in Cincinnati Reds country listening to and watching the Big Red Machine and sticking with them when times were as tough as they were good all through the '70s to this last season - ok...they're cellar dwellers, but they're MY cellar dwellers! This year was particularly painful because we had to watch Lindner tear the team apart more and more as each day passed. I found the Cubbies when we got WGN on cable and fell for them because they were SO COOL, Wrigley Field looked like a palace, and Harry Caray added to the fun. It was great watching them play and even better when they played my Reds. I've never been a bandwagon person so I can't root for the Bosox because I've never been a fan. SO....I hope the Bosox win tonight but if they don't I won't care.

*sigh*

i don't know what to do either man. i've just been moping around all day. i was playing a season of mvp baseball 2003, but i uninstalled that because i don't even have the motivation to play anymore. the season is over for me as well. i could care less about who wins it. there's always next year. which makes me wonder what's gonna happen to the team in the offseason. all we need is a decent bullpen. try to keep everyone else.

You know what they need? A guard fence, similar to the one in the back, but put on the sides so the fans don't touch the ball.

Jesus Christ...

I'm sorry to go off on a little rant here but I've been hearing this for the past two days nonstop...well anyways, I don't think it was the fan who had 3 wins over the Marlins 1 win in the series and then allowed the Marlins to come back by winning 3 games in a row, 2 of those which were at home, and 2 of those were which your ace pitchers pitched. Remember also that the fan did not give up 8 innings in one run, or make a costly error on a play that a gold glover like Alex Gonzalez should have made. Yes, I'm a White Sox fan and say what you want...doesn't bother me all that much. I know the Sox had a chance at winning the division until Jerry Manuel made some costly moves in the lineup and bullpen. I was rooting for the Cubs somewhat since they're a Chicago team, but I just don't understand how you can blame one fan for losing a series of 7 games...

As a Cub fan, I couldn't agree more. You blow a 3-1 lead, where two of those games are at home, against two of the best pitchers in baseball. I never thought I would say this, but Chicago's pitching lost them the series
