ChicoCahill
Then how come he isn't even going to start game 2 for the sox.And his era and whip is higher than 4 yankee starters. He won 17 games because of run support. Greg Maddux, Roger Clemens, and Mark Prior are all starting game 3 for their teams as well.. are you gonna try and tell me they arent good pitchers either? in a 5 game series, game 3 is crucial, and more and more teams are catching on. your talking about wakefield starting game 2 not pettite or wood or zambrano Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/103883-the-2003-neowin-mlb-playoff-thread/page/2/#findComment-1204839 Share on other sites

CatnipOligarchy
and his run support was the highest in the majors at 7.26 runs per game nevertheless, 17-7 means he gave his team a chance to win, which is the most important thing, especially in the playoffs... and in this hitters era, a 4.47 era in the American League isnt really all thet bad Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/103883-the-2003-neowin-mlb-playoff-thread/page/2/#findComment-1204851 Share on other sites

CatnipOligarchy
more like his team gave him a chance to win the game yeah but he still held the leads.. anyways, hes starting game 3 because its a crucial game, whether you are up 2-0, down 0-2, or tied 1-1. its crucial, and they want a pitcher out there that can handle the pressure in front of those screaming red sox fans who have been waiting 85 years for a world series title, starting game 3 is nothing to be ashamed of Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/103883-the-2003-neowin-mlb-playoff-thread/page/2/#findComment-1204861 Share on other sites

He won 17 games because of run support. He's not starting Game #2 because he's a ground ball pitcher. Wakefield is a fly ball pitcher...the A's park is a huge area making fly ball pitchers more successfull..while Fenway is a ground ball pitchers' park. Know your baseball d0od. Cheif_Bigfoot
First off I have to say go TWINS. I have tickets to games 3 and 4 and I'm going to be yelling like crazy at the end of game 4 I hope (game 3 would be better but...). In the NL I have to root for the Giants. Sorry to all the apparent cubs fans out there but I don't see them beating the braves. I'll admit that it should be a good series but I think in the end it will be the braves. Anyway, Braves in 5, Giants in 4, Giants in 6, Twins in 4 (I have to), A's in 4, Twins in 6, and Giants in 7. Destian
Philly blew it big time. Sigh. Anyway, hoping to see a bos/nyc faceoff in the AL Championship. Go Sox. Just wouldn't be the same for Boston if they didn't have to go through the Yankees.
