Neo003
Looking for a 3dtv not too big or not too small, my mind is burned out going thru pros and cons. And just looking for advice now and see if I can make up my mind. First one is LG Infinia 47LW6500 and the seconds one Samsung UN46D8000 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1041341-need-to-buy-a-3d-tv/ Share on other sites
PaulNY
I bought the UN55D7000 (pretty much same specs as the 8000, except the contrast ratio on the 8000 is better) last Christmas, and its amazing. I've used the 3D a fair amount with my PS3 for games and 3D BluRay. So far no complaints with the set. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN55D7000-55-Inch-1080p-Silver/dp/B004O6MN7O/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1322267011&sr=1-1 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1041341-need-to-buy-a-3d-tv/#findComment-594476181 Share on other sites
booboo
I don't have a 3D TV, however I would go with the samsung as they're incredible TVs, can't fault them. Samsung are in my eyes, the best. DirtyLarry Veteran Posted November 26, 2011 Veteran Share Posted November 26, 2011 I just want to throw this out there, not sure what you plan on doing with it, but if it is gaming, do not expect the world when it comes to 3D gaming. Some of it is brilliant. Some of it is not so good. Some of it is okay. Some if it is downright bad. Just want to share that as a fellow 3DTV owner. The games that are brilliant though, really are damn good. And watching movies, damn good stuff. Enjoy. (Y) As far as which TV, I have heard, and actually seen in store when I was looking at 3DTV's myself, that Samsung really has their act together with the 3D. I would recommend them myself. First one is LG Infinia 47LW6500 and the seconds one Samsung UN46D8000 go with the LG some friends of mine just got an LG neaer that same model and they love it and the smart Tv features are great being able to surf the web on the Tv is good Netflix is great on it and well not sure if yours will have one but it comes with a motio magic controler as they call it a 7 button one it works like the Wii so it is easy to navigate the interface. also the Samsungs while they have a great smart TV features they come witha think doble sided Qwerty KB remote Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1041341-need-to-buy-a-3d-tv/#findComment-594476197 Share on other sites
giantpotato
I have an LG 23.5" 3D monitor and there are a few things that bug me about the passive 3d. Very narrow viewing angle. It's something like 15 degrees. If you're not in the sweet spot you get a double picture. I'm not sure if it's the same with LG's TV's. In 3D you only get half resolution to each eye. Basically with a 1080p resolution you get interlaced 540p in each eye. If I'm watching a movie from a few feet away it's unnoticeable, but if I'm gaming up close I can tell the image is interlaced in each eye. I also notice ghosting in very high contrast areas, such as a white crosshair on a black background while gaming. I've never tried active 3D, so I can't comment, but of course that also has downsides, flicker, expensive glasses. Neo003
Now I got 1 to 1 vote, so let me throw this one in there too; and DL I'm looking for mostly for movies. I would love to play some games on 3d like Halo CE Ann. and Assasine's creed. Matrix XII
I own a Sony Bravia XBR-55HX929 the TV is unbelievable you won't find black levels like this in an LED TV. The 46" version is obviously the same. The only problem is these TV's run you quite a bit of money. http://www.amazon.co...g/dp/B004QX6E4S Here's a link to CNET's review. http://reviews.cnet....7-34468616.html Hope this helps. If you want to splurge a bit you won't be disappointed! I hope I don't sound biased but I was on AV Forums a lot and did hours and hours of research before this TV was purchased and many people were disappointed in the Samsung D8000 series. I have owned 3 Samsungs, very good TV's but based on what I read the XBR is a better TV and I've been very happy with it so far! Ambroos
You Americans with your silly big TV's. Almost everyone I know has a 32", a small group has one 37" or more. A lot of people still have a CRT. Saves you quite a bit of money, too. +Elі Subscriber² Posted November 26, 2011 Subscriber² Share Posted November 26, 2011 I have a Samsung 40 3D TV in my bedroom and I love it, go with Samsung, you can't go wrong with them. PS: Remember to calibrate it, it's the best favor you can do to yourself, or else look up for the best settings possible on the web, CNet almost always makes reviews and recommended settings for every major new model. AbandonedTrolley
I got this one for Christmas last year, looks like what you are looking at is the same just with the Smart TV functions. All I can say is that it's a great TV set, the 3D quality is great as is the normal 2D stuff, the issue with the viewing angle is a verticle issue, you need to be at TV height or have it aimed at you, in terms of the horizontal angle that does seem pretty wide. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/lg-47lw450u-47-full-hd-led-3d-tv-10374210-pdt.html Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1041341-need-to-buy-a-3d-tv/#findComment-594588825 Share on other sites

Not sure about the power bill though, but that hardly counts when you got it for FREE.
