Loongson and MIPS are on the way to taking over China.

Doubtful that any of those were copied from the dungeons of Linux, as unusable as they are. If Linux was actually a usable operating system for the desktop, it would have caught on by now. Instead, Linux really does try to directly copy elements of Mac and Windows, to the extent that on the surface, someone might mistake one for the other. Unfortunately the operation of these borrowed (I used another word for you) elements leaves a lot to be desired.

Maybe 2012 will be the year of the Linux desktop? /s

just like 2011, and 2010, and 2009, and 2008, and 2007, and 2006, and 2005, and 2004, and...yeah, that sure happened

The point as that the FOSS camp was cheering thatit couldn't run windows, but as soon as something can't run Linux it's a disaster, the reason is irrelevant.
I still don't see where you see me cheering that it couldn't run Windows. I clearly said in my post that
  1. Members of the free software community have been using Lemote computers because it is capable of running free software from the BIOS level and above
  2. Being an MIPS ISA system, it was not supported by Microsoft Windows, with the exception of Windows CE
  3. But if your BSD/Linux distribution has a MIPS port, you should be fine with it. For instance, Debian supports it, and Lemote computers are usually sold in retail with a Debian GNU+Linux.

Somehow you got the impression that the only reason the free software community has for using these machines is because it doesn't run Windows (which it does, to a point) and not of its surprisingly open nature. I try to be informative, and you somehow spin it into some sort of free software conspiracy. And I'm the paranoid one?

When will you learn that every OS borrows elements from others. So using terminology like "stolen" is infantile and fanboyish.

Actually, it's pretty sad how GNOME and quite a few Linux distributions copy Mac OS X and iOS down to the smallest details. It has absolutely nothing to do with borrowing features and giving your own spin to them anymore. It has to do with blatantly copying entire interface elements. No point in denying it really.
