Technique
I just followed http://www.iphone-sms.com/ but couldn't find any such file, even following the path. I even tried start>search to find but it showed nothing. I'm on 4.0.1 & wanting to move to 5.0.1 & then re-jailbreak. I was followeing the steps & got to the part where it said "restore". Will this erase my SMS messages? If so i want to back them up as i have over 12 months of SMS stored on my iPhone which i don't want to lose. Technique
In that case we're good to go. Thanks.

+virtorio MVC Posted January 1, 2012 MVC Share Posted January 1, 2012 If the folder described in that page exists on your computer you can get there by tying "%APPDATA%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" into the Search Box on Windows 7 (or the Run dialog box in Windows XP) and pressing Enter. Those folders don't normally show up in Explorer unless you have Show Hidden Items turned on, nor will Windows Search find them. As I don't own an iOS device I'm not able to test the path they provided is valid.
Technique
I had show hidden files activated. Anyway, just followed that path: C:\Users\Kev\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup & there's 2 folders it brings me to. I followed the guide on iClarified to do this - which told me Shift+restore, and then select 5.0.1 I've done that & my SMS still seem to be there. Some of my jailbroken apps are still there, but the app store is no longer there for some reason...?! IT's in the process of resyncing my old apps, so maybe it'll appear once it's complete. One irritating thing i've found is that now when i plug in my iPhone, my phone number displayed in iTunes is incorrect. I don't know who's mobile number it is, but it's most certainly not mine. I know this is minor, but how do i get it to display the correct number? Thanks.
Technique
Is there any particular reason why the jailbroken apps i got before this update are refusing to install? Angry Birds, Worms 2, everything i got through Installous is refusing to install. Why?
Technique
So i keep trying to install installous. I follow an online guide. Type in the URL. Then it takes a long long time before throwing up an error message. I've attched 1 of the 2 error messages i've received (they've been 2 separate ones). Once finished, there's a hackulo link in my sources, but whether it works as it should i don't know. I remember when i did it last time there were no error messages. EDIT: Just trying for a third time & now it's doing nothing at all. Just sort of hanging there. Downloading Packages Done: Packages Downlosading Release Done: Release There's a whole lot of that, but that's about it.
Nashy
It will not remove your SMS messages. When I had an iPhone it would do a full restore, especially when it comes to jailbreaking.
