New Dock shading

Is this how the Dock looks by default in Mountain Lion now? I don't see any new shading, are you referring to the way icons reflect on the Dock?

Seems to be a more milky white colour rather than transparent black. Looks different to me but now cannot remember the old one :)

You honestly don't see the difference?

So that is the new default look, with the changed running lights? That's what I was curious about.

IMO I liked it better when Notification Center's menu bar icon was the dot. The new icon reminds me of the list view button in Zune.

The new dock looks really nice!

Oh, I've had my Dock on the right side of the display for so long now that I've not even noticed if the default Dock look has been changing from build to build.

Lion -v- ML

Not the greatest shot as it was done with screen sharing but you get the idea.

Oh, I see it now. Didn't notice the white got a bit brighter. Really like the look of the ML Dock, those running app lights are really nice.

I like the polish on the new dock, although I think I'll still mod it without the reflection and with a matte gray/black look. It does seem to get a bit pixelated around the edges, but hardly noticeable at normal viewing distance:

Looks like $20 for all your personal macs - bargain.

This is what I think. I?ll update my 3 Macs at home. I would have shelled out over $400 if I were on Windows. Then they say Macs are expensive :p

Can the recent developer preview 4 be installed over preview 3 or osx lion? Or do you have to clean install (no upgrade) it?

Is there a preview 4? i thought it was 3 plus a patch.

DP4 was given to developers at WWDC. You can install it over an existing install but as always it will be more stable if you do a clean install (you can always migrate your data over during final setup).

How does the latest ML preview run compared to Lion? I'm on an old iMac (2007) and Lion is a bit laggy compared to SL, but I'm happy to accept it for now. Is ML any better or worse or is it about the same?

Much, much better. For me. Others tell it runs pretty much the same. You'll have to try it out and see for yourself, I guess.

Still waiting for new iWork, Aperture and iTunes... please! And terribly disappointed there was no new Mini, but I guess I'll have to fetch the old Server model then. :D
