Really wish I could install the DP4 and know that I could easily upgrade to final without a reinstall after...

I'd never want my production system to be an upgraded beta. So far I've been switching between OS X Lion and OS X Mountain Lion since DP4 was released.

Ditto, but I'm also somewhat tempted. I've got DP4 installed on another Mac Mini and it looks lovely but I just want rid of Lion already!!!

Wow, can't believe there hasn't been a definitive release date from Apple yet.... I know they said in July, but I would expect by now there would be an actual day set.

My Guess, last day of the month.

I am running on Snow Leopard which went through all the betas for Lion and now ML and still feels perfectly good to me

I'm doubting the actual possibility of being able to update Developer Previews all the way through. Not to mention the fact quite a few people here ran into problems with software updates that simply refused to install.

For the sake of argument let's ignore the above. I'm willing to bet your Mac will run better after performing a clean installation after OS X Mountain Lion has been released.

It was possible on Lion so see no reason why it should not be possible this time round.

Here's something I hadn't noticed before and sure it didn't do this in Lion but if you have a camera that does AVCHD video if you doule click it you can now select the files inside to play in Quicktime... cool :)

Have any of you had problems with Airplay to an Apple TV 3r Generation?

Yes sometimes it comes up in only the top 1/3 of the screen but I just turn off and on again and it's ok - otherwise seems ok, can blip now and again but otherwise works quite well.

Does anyone here remember how long it took for the OS X Lion GM to go from developers only to general availability?

The developer previews ended on July 1, 2011 with the GM seed of OS X Lion and general availability was on July 20, 2011.

There are quite a few known issues with the GM build:

Known Issues

? Network Migration requires OS X 10.7.3 or later in this Developer Preview

? International users may be unable to enter a Wi-Fi password while in Setup Assistant. Users can select Other Network Options and continue setting up their system without a Wi-Fi network

? On systems with FileVault enabled, the login window may be displayed incorrectly

? Rotating an external display may cause a panic on AMD Radeon-based machines

? QuickTime screen recordings may produce corrupted videos or cause an exception when run on machines with NVDIA graphics

? Installation of Final Cut Studio 3 may cause a hang unless Automatic Graphics Switching is disabled in Energy Saver Preferences

:/

Anyway, are there any noticeable changes from the previous build?

Well it might be the same as the dev previews (didn't install them because you couldn't build apps for the AppStore).

It just seems to be smoother and I love the new progress bar

It definitely is smoother. One nice perk is that it now uses Core Animation for compositing and scrolling.

These were the known issues on DP4 as well... Are you sure this is the known issues in GM?
