OS X Mountain Lion Discussion

Recommended Posts

It's official: Mountain Lion will be released tomorrow.

?We?ve also just updated the entire MacBook line, will release Mountain Lion tomorrow and will be launching iOS 6 this Fall. We are also really looking forward to the amazing new products we?ve got in the pipeline.?

I've been running the GM since it was given to developers, it's very stable. I found a few issues with the new way Safari renders but it's very minimal.

Can't wait to see a few point releases for this build. It's great as it stands but nothing will compete with Snow Leopard in terms of stability and speed for a while! Mountain Lion is much faster than Lion however.

Why would they need to say anything in advance?

I'm not sure why. I never implied that they *need* to do anything. But they did say stuff in advance regardless; ya know, WWDC '12.

I read that AirPlay Mirroring will only work on "Sandy Bridge" multicore processors. Where do I go to find out if my Mid-2009 MacBook Pro is sandy enough for that feature?

It would suck a bit if they released a new OS out of the blue with no third-party developer backing them.

So I guess you have an answer to your original question then ;).

He mean't at the WWDC 2012 conference. I think your replies were a little confusing, so he was questioning why they would announce it back in WWDC 2012. As far as them announcing the OS, they haven't posted a new GM build, so it's got to be close anyway. Just waiting for it to hit the AppStore, and I'll install.

It's not, unfortunately. Basically, if you have an Intel HD 3000 GPU, you have a Sandy Bridge system.

So I just installed Mountain Lion GM and for some reason, I have no Facbeook sharing option. Twitter is there, but no Facebook. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to why? Seems very very strange.

Doh! That is a shame...

Here is the info:

http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/

AirPlay Mirroring

Requires a second-generation Apple TV or later. Supports the following Mac models:

iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)

Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)

MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)

MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)

Facebook integration is still developer only. It's apparently going to be added in the Fall.

Great! Thanks for the info. Was really confused about why it wasn't working because I swore i had heard about it.

Loving Mountain Lion so far. For those who are wondering, there are MAJOR speed improvements on Safari. The difference is night and day.

It isn't hard to reproduce at all, just pinch out with more than two tabs and you will see it on any page that isn't pure white.

Did you report it? If you have it installed is because you are either a dev or a beta tester right?

I reported a couple of bugs and they were all fixed

Really? That's sucks for me, because I don't use Twitter. Guess I'll upgrade and wait.

Anyone tried Dictation on Preview 4? It doesn't seem to work for me, I hear the tone, I talk, but nothing happens.

Does your Mac have a Microphone built in? Most Mac Mini's don't.

Didn't try it in DP4 but it works great in the GM.

I wonder if it's the exact same build as the GM?

AppleCare workers said it's the same build number.
