Nicholas-c Veteran Posted March 1, 2012 Veteran Share Posted March 1, 2012 At the weekend I recorded some stuff at airsoft, I recorded the game briefings in the safe zone without thinking about that humming sound in the background. A lovely petrol generator engine. The sound from it has completely drowned out any voices etc. What would be the best method at trying to remove it. Or at least make it a little quieter and bring out the voices? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1061218-removing-generator-from-audio/ Share on other sites
dnast
I don't have much experience in this but if the frequency of the generator isn't too close to the voices you could use a good EQ and lower the levels in the range of the generator. If that doesn't work out you could try to find a part of the recording where you can hear the generator and no voices then mirror the sound clip (like active noise-cancelling systems) and loop it throughout the video, but that's probably easier said than done as far as matching everything up correctly. Nicholas-c Veteran Posted March 1, 2012 Author Veteran Share Posted March 1, 2012 I had a play with audacity EQ and couldn't get the generator out without destroying the audio completely. May just have to scrap it all and treat it as a learning curve.
