I really nice page on MSDN with some good pictures is

Looks like being a developer for the windows platform is going to get a whole lot nicer(visually).

That isn't what the VS is going to look like (color wise, etc.). Everyone at PDC has said it is a "Frosted Glass" opaque look as in the Aero Rock video.

And if you watch the Amazon.com video, you really get to see what Aero is capable of (Rolodex type browsing).

Here is more proof: Longhorn Desktop Video

Oh and here are screenshots:

and plenty of others from Paul Thurrott's Wonder Site

Anyone able to export that video to an open format  ? ... I would love to see it, but Microsoft are yet to release codec's or an updated Windows Media Player for OS X, since Version 7 (Which BLOWS :x )

Please! :p

I like the 4050 shots, probably only difference is DCE/Aero :)

The lack of Aero you mean.

This is the same build of Longhorn that was introduced at the Keynote this morning by Bill Gates and Jim Allchin. The only difference between this specific copy of the OS is that this lacks components from Aero. The Microsoft representative told us that Aero is still under heavy construction and security, to prevent any form of leakage, as the rep himself had never really worked with it.

Which explains why no one has seen it before PDC and everyone thinks they know what it looks like. MS is getting smarter and smarter.

Here is a new video (Avalon Transparencies) straight from Paul showing how Avalon works with the windows (still called explorer?).

Nice alerts! I hope the error dialogues will be alerts now. That would make it sooo much nicer.
