Half Life 2 Beta leaked?

oh man am i lost here. i have not really kept up with all this. Are you guys saying that you can play HL1 using the HL2 engine? same true for CS? I know i can't ask for files or the like but man i would love to be able to play HL1 content with the new engine!!

it should run the same on a variety of computers, people with lower end graphics because it disables a lot of the effects and lowers ps version, so with lower end cards your going to have a MUCH uglier game, like on my geforce 2 that is on my testing computer HALO looks UGLY and my 9800 256meg on my opteron looks pretty - SUPER PRETTY for halo...and there is a huge difference in graphics between the chipsets just look at the source code tons gets disabled

I think Valve are going to have to seriously redo the minimum system requirements for this game. I read in an article that they apparently were 700mhz cpu with 128mb ram ect. Well I have a 1ghz athlon, 256mb ram, geforce 3 ti200 64mb, and I may as well not buy it because it runs absolutely terrible, especially the physics map, which is embarrassingly bad. If I have to buy this game, Im probably going to have to spend 300 dollars to make it playable on my computer. Games are just too advanced for my computer now.

No they don't. You expect to be able to run a beta (or perhaps alpha) when it probably hasn't even been optimized yet? Or even able to change graphics settings?? I would wait for a finished copy before passing any judgement.

exactly, anytime someone writes any software, they first get the functionality, once every bug is fixed and all features added. Thats when they spend time optimizing it.

so wait for the final game's reviews for the performance counts.

Then again, a machine upgrade to your config is prefered, which you can do it next summer. youll probably be able to buy 9900 pro or whatever is the next big thing :D

wonder whats after 9900 pro :woot:
