Hi all,

I'm quite new to VS and i actually have a little problem with this one.

The screenshot is in attachment. First of all i'm running a French version of WinXP (wich may cause my problem i think). On the screenshot you can see on the left of the start menu "arrer" wich is the end of "d?marrer" the french translation for "start". Also the start menu image should be dock to the left of the screen but i think it's kinda linked to the "arrer".

If you have any idea of how to get ride of these problems please tell me:))

Anyway congrats for this VS tiger i really like it.

the problem your having is the startmenu and startbutton geometry are set up for english.

The only way to fix it is to edit it with stylebuilder and adjust the startmenu and startbutton

Thanks OldeCrow, but well i only started StyleBluider once and was like wow that's kinda to complex for me :)

I tried to change some stuff like the SizingMargins for the startmenu but i didn't notice any difference. Sorry for bugging you about that but can someone tell me what i have to change to have these problems fixed?

Thanks.

ok the sizing margins are not going to do it in rodiumx :)

you will have to adjust the defaultpanel size for the userpane and logoffpanes

you will find an entry like this for defaultpanelsize 0, 0, 244, 25 the the width is 244 and the hight is 25 .. you wont need to change the hight but the width you will have to make bigger untill the logoff/turnoff button text fits properly

you may also have to tinker with the defaultpanelsize for the other panes too but i would start with the userpane and logoffpanes first

the startbutton uses a negative value for its content margins to hide the default startbutton text you will have to increase the negative value to hide the longer text

the number you want to change is -65 you might try -75 for example and see if that works .. if it still shows the default startbutton text just keep trying larger negitive numbers -100 etc..

good luck :D

Yep, i will be working for updates to both Rhodiumx and metalcolor and possible some new skin creations once i finish the new website, initially i had planned some updates during the break off school but then decided to work on the site insted because i found it to look kind of lame.

I'm stoked, RhodiumX is the first skin i've installed and didnt remove after 5 minutes. I'm also glad I dont need bulky 3rd-party apps running in my systray to do it. It's awesome :D

Just a couple of stupid questions. I've tried using the shellstyle.dll file, but it doesnt seem to be working, nothing has changed (I thought it changed my icons etc but I could be wrong).

I've got the file extracted (including dirs) in C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\RhodiumX\Shell\NormalColor but when I try that skin nothing seems to be different. What is shellstyle.dll supposed to do and what am I doing wrong?

Whats the cool toolbar at the bottom of all those screenshots? Is it a freely available app?

Thanks for helping out a winxp skinning noob

Good stuff man, I use metalcolor it's great but one request: Is it possible to change the black and red title bars to match blue so that it's silver mostly with the color in the corner? Thanks if you can ;)

lol, actually when i first started a posted a poll with pictures of which way would the black and the red would look better and the majority voted for red on the tittle bar with silver corner

Therefore can you change the blue to make it consistent with the others? (Blue on left, silver on right)
