giantpotato
Do you know how much power it pulls? I have an UPS connected to my server and it does about 220 Watts 24.7 - I'm interested to know what yours pulls I'd expect lower than 60 watts from the wall. I have a server with a similar E-350 motherboard. At idle with all the hard drives spun down it does ~30Watts the wall. With the 5 drives spinning it does around ~60W I believe (It's been a while since I last checked). Crisp
Mine are in the loft too, which is where my room is aswell... If your loft is converted into a room, with proper roof insulation then I could understand, but putting a server in the loft with just felt and tile on the roof... that must be like putting a server in an oven! Stereopixels looks like a normal loft from the images, with boxes and random floor boarding... :s <snip> What bracket wall mount have you used with that monitor? I have a server with a similar E-350 motherboard. Which board did you get? I'm thinking of building another with an ASUS e35 as it is already fanless and comes with 5 SATA on board. Dan~
If you check my photo of my servers, it's in a seperate room with just the felt etc. thankfuly though it's a big old area so probably doesn't get much hotter than 30oc  but they've been on 24/7 for 3 years plus, apart from the odd power cut. I need to install cpuid or whatever it's called to see how hot there running Crisp 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1075023-show-us-your-server-2012/page/2/#findComment-595036071 Share on other sites

CPressland
What bracket wall mount have you used with that monitor? Just a cheap one from eBuyer. But I've only used the monitor once since it going in there, which was to configure the networking. Everything else is handed by ESX or SSH. +BudMan MVC Posted July 26, 2012 MVC Share Posted July 26, 2012 yup micro server here as well, N40L - sweet little box, and price is hard to beat! Add more ram, extra nic and fill it up with the space you need. Provides me with my router, my nas and my linux shell box plus anything else I want to play with at the moment via VMs on esxi. Arkos Reed
Nothing against proper server rooms? :D Here's a glimpse in one of the two rooms I'm in charge of. Currently Showing an EVA 6400 Array, a HP C7000 Blade enclosure and some old rack I'm currently moving stuff out of. Regarding my own home server, specs are in the sig, it's housed in a (ginormous) Enermax Fulmo GT. Roger H. Veteran Posted August 16, 2012 Veteran Share Posted August 16, 2012 WHO00ooo00ooaaaaaa.... :fro:  No that's some server room PORN! Definitely that's something to drool about. One day wanna be in charge of a room like that. I work in small business now so not really IT per say but I've tried to clean up the mess before me and bosses just say i'm wasting time. I wanna make things all neat like yours and put things in the proper place but i just have cables going all over the place, did some rewiring but as long as it's working they don't care I guess. I'll put the work server here then edit my older post to post my "home" server :) 2 Dell PowerEdge 2950s - Windows SBS 2003R2 :( - 3 SAS/SATA drives in RAID5 like 500GB each server. I'm wanna upgrade the software at least since Server 2003 is barely even supported anymore. Wanna upgrade to 2008R2 or 2012 (!) and Exchange 2010, that should be sweet and last us for another 5-10yrs but guess that wont be happening till they break! Got a 3rd PowerEdge 2950 (not shown) that i'm gonna put Windows Server 2012 (from TechNet) to see how it runs on this hardware. Some good salesman got the boss to buy all this stuff when we barely need 1 of them. Got another older Dell PowerEdge 840 Tower also that's not being used. 1 APC SmartUPS 2200VA Network rack is out in "server room" - The room was too small to host this cage so ran 2 CAT6 lines to this space for 1Gbps to each server (top one is file server for about 10 users that sync and store pictures from reports there). Bottom one is AD/DNS/DHCP/Exchange server. remixedcat 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1075023-show-us-your-server-2012/page/2/#findComment-595095153 Share on other sites
