Outlook 2010 + Hotmail account (pop3)

• Outgoing Server: smtp.live.com
  
• Outgoing port: 25 (use port 587 if the default port is not working)
  
• Authentication: yes
  
• TLS Or SSL: yes
  

Tried to setup Outlook for a hotmail account (pop3) by using these settings but I receive this error after testing it.. related to?

Well the server is saying it's expecting a STARTTLS command. Have you tried changing the encrypted connection dropdown to TLS?

Set outgoing SMTP port 587 to use TLS encryption. "530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first"

I haven't been able to overcome this issue either.

I'm currently using the Outlook Hotmail Connector and it's pretty much perfect.

I've never been able to get hotmail to work with POP3 :\ Given the advantages of using MAPI (Hotmail(kinda)/Exchange) I don't know why you would be aiming for POP3 still >.>
