Problem is... Beats are crap... yeah they're good looking but they're still crap if you care about what you hear, and not only what you look like when you wear them

Take a look at head-fi.org, you'll find exactly what you need ;)

AKG K240 Studio may be a good choice, Denon HP700, etc.

A lot of userful information here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/433318/shootout-102-portable-headphones-reviewed-panasonic-rp-htf600-added-04-29-12

Bet you dont have ones.

I know how they sound (boomy, lacking mid-range, not very refined and balanced, etc.) 'cause hi-fi audio is my hobby and yes I've listened to them before... but nope I dont have the Beats. I got a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 880 600ohm, a pair of Denon AHD 7000 and a pair of AKG K701 though (with a WooAudio WA6 SE tube amp). I don't need the Beats, my ears don't need the Beats. I respect the music I love too much

There's much better headphones around than the Beats... for the same price or less. As I said, you must choose your headphones for the sound they can produce, not for what they look like on your head at the bus stop...

You're talking about headphones that cost twice or more as much than the beats. I have used Sennheiser, Marshall and many other's in the Beats price range and the Beats are the best I've ever used.

It's cool to hate the beats for the same reasons it's cool to hate Apple.

I'm sorry, you can have MUCH better headphones than the Beats for the same money...

Enlightening read here: http://www.head-fi.o...-indepth-review

I just read resented people that are mad that people does not acknowledge how sound-enlightened they are.

If my beats do the job for me and better than other I've used then nothing you can say will change that. It's my experience.

I'll bring in a fairer comparison then. I've got the Shure SRH840; got them over a year ago. The RRP on them is ?150 (I got mine for ?110), the RRP on the Beats Solo is also ?150, the Beats Solo HD is ?170, and on the Beats Studio, it's ?280. I've compared all four together at the same time before, and mine SRH840 sounds better than all three of those Beats headphones. Weirdly, when I did the test, I found that the Solo sounded better than the Studio (and the Solo HD sounds the same as the regular Solo).

I'll bring in a post from the Head-Fi topic that myxomatosis posted which up sums the music lovers' hate for Monster Cable...

You know why I hate Monster? They take advantage of the ignorance of people to push above average items (average being iBuds and Skullcandies and cheapo electronics) at horrendously premium prices. They take advantage of the weakness of people to branding and advertisement and irrelevant celebrity endorsements and shiny things.

I am not biased. I am not a sheep. I would love nothing more than for Monster to deliver a headphone that performs as well as they are marketed and designed to look like. It would be the end-all. Monster by far has the resources to do this. But, they won't do it, because they're not in it to make quality items, or improve technology, or make people happy. They're here to be a soulless parasite corporation to make the most money they possibly can off of the lack of knowledge of the general population.

This is a forum where the end goal is to find the best sound. This forum is not a soapbox for feelings and people's rights. This is a place for facts and logic and truth, and the truth is, Beats will never be good headphones compared to their price point competition. Tell me, if the Beats were so fantastic, how come so many people get them for half-off and more, sometimes even for FREE? How many other popular headphones sell for half cost or more new? How does Monster not only survive, but thrive when their product is rampantly fire-saled, if their product was actually built to cost?

...now, getting firmly back on-topic, I'd say this page is a good place to start with. According to the Head-Fi users, the best headphones that fall in your price range is the Head-Direct RE0. I remember being recommended that set a few times back when I was on the lookout for new headphones last time, but I don't find IEMs comfortable; I prefer full-size headphones. If you go for those, then find that they're not comfortable enough, then I'd recommend spending the rest of your budget on some Comply foam tips. I once used the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5vi, and they came with a pair of these (I think they were the T-400 tips), and they were much better than the regular tips. You squish them down just before you insert them in your ear, and then the foam expands so that it creates a good seal in your ear. These ones are compatible with the RE-0s: S-400, T-400, Ts-400, and Tx-400 (these have a wax guard built in).

Hope you find the ideal IEMs! :)

I'll bring in a fairer comparison then.

That might be right, but still is no reason for hating Beat users. Again, it's like hating a Mac user.

Beats might not be the best but we are happy with them and Im yet to see a Beat user flaming people with a different headphones brand.

I didn't see anyone hating on the users, just the 'phones.

I just got Turtle Beach Z11s cause I've never had a headset that actually lasts. The cheap construction in the gaming sets is often so bad as to be pathetic...so it's hard to want to spend much money on em. I've had a lot of different brands and they all made me want to gag, and although I could scrape up 100+ I'd rather not.

Didn't even know Klipsch made 'phones. I'll look into that someday.

Bet you dont have ones.

I have friends that have. 2 sitting next to me. And I have a pair of Senns that cost a third of the price that sound better to all three of us when we compared. So yes they suck for what they costs.

One thing I will say. Beats look great. If they did not suck I would get a pair since they have great features. Cable replaceable, mute button. but for what they cost. no sir. do research they are not up to par.

Panasonic RP-HTX7: <-- These sound better than beats. Less bass but better clarity. Retro look that I love and gets looks and compliments. The cord is a bit short. Senns have a much longer cord.

The Klips you referenced look great and decent review.
