When Steve Jobs introduced an easy to use music player called the IPod, my first reaction was not how smart he was, but how stupid all the other manufacturers were.

Here Vizio does something so simple. A gorgeous Ultrabook, 15.6", crapware free, 2 year warranty at no extra charge, and all north American technical support.

OP: It's not vector graphics that causes smooth zoom in-out on Macs, I don't really know what is the reason but Safari might be animating layout changes that IE10 does in some cases. Can you try doing that in IE10?

It's scary how fast Windows 8 booted on that thing :blink:

Vizio stated that when Windows 8 launched there would be some surprises - a ?pseudo-touch interface that?s pretty neat?.

I assume it's related to Synaptics and InterTouch

I'm sure the quality is very nice but it seems very underpowered, my laptop gets a 5.9 on WEI and it was ?392 :)

Battery life is supposed to be on par with Apple's 7 hours for their MBP line based on the specs from previous articles.

I will be posting more tests later, but I too was puzzled by the Windows Experience Index, then I realized I didn't rerun the assessment after all the updates.

So here are the new and improved WEI scores.

I'll assume lack of proper Win 8 video drivers could explain the lower score. Not sure.

I got about 17 seconds for Win 7 and 8 seconds for Win 8

C'mon, the only thing that this device lacks is RJ45 port. That little thingie is must.

I saw there are usb to ethernet dongles out there but why? Serious networking still needs an ethernet cable with a wired router.

The ethernet port is by far the biggest/tallest port on the laptop. Up until recently, hardware was never small enough to bother. But now, the only way to slim the laptop even further to ditch the ethernet port. Vizio isn't the only one taking this approach; Apple did it with the Retina MBP and others are following as well.

It's an unfortunate hassle to if you rely on ethernet for a stable connection. For most users, they have wifi at home or work that this will never be a problem. Another thing to consider is that if you are connected to ethernet, then chances are you sitting at a desk in order to be wired up. So the dongle doesn't really interfere with usage.
