I do hope it's optional, I actually don't like smooth scrolling.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was no option in the preferences for it, but I'd imagine at the very least it will remain as a flag and/or the --disable-smooth-scrolling command line switch.

It's enabled by default in Canary (and likely Chromium too), but I can still disable it in chrome://flags for the time being. It's quite annoying - it'd be fine if it was more like IE/Edge's smooth scrolling, but I hate how slow it is (Firefox's too, actually). So I just leave it disabled.

It maybe down to your mouse if you think it is slow then as i am using a Logitech and it is lightning fast as always.

What's your problem with it? Have you tried creating an issue on their issue tracker about what's bugging you?

in linux it may act differently to windows but i do not like it, what i dont like about it, it doesnt open up in a New Tab Window Like Opera when you download in that browser.  but again i use Firefox mostly at the moment for Downloads .  ( download Manager's are better in firefox )

no i havent created a ticket about it

wonder if this new version employs the new compression algorithm to make it "faster"....oh, and thanks for the warning, steve. I almost spit out my coffee with a burst of laughter.
