Windows 8 RTM - Is everything made bigger?

Recommended Posts

Guys, I'm just testing out Win 8 Pro RTM, and I'm finding the RTM to have the complete UI bigger. Am I wrong, or is it like that? BTW, if it IS like that... Is it possible to reduce its size? I'm feeling like I'm being scolded by the UI being so big (which is reasonable due to Windows 8 being Touch oriented) and cramped :s

LightEco, that did the job! Thanks! I wonder why the heck does the Zoom level is set 125% as default :/ BTW, thanks everyone for the tip :p

Keep in mind, you're running a leaked build that was most likely tampered with.

i don't know about you

i just installed and it was set at 100% for me

Well I just checked this in the RP and to my surprise you can alter the font-size for the titlebar in this dialog too so no more registry-hacks for that atleast. And I guess this will work for the RTM too^^ Also maybe I'm paranoid but I think everyone who connects the RTM to the internet is a brave person :p

Windows 7 sets the screen resolution to the monitor's native resolution if the appropriate video drivers are included. If the screen resolution is high enough, the system will default to 125% DPI.

I'd assume that this would be the case for Windows 8 as well.

First time ever on the life span of this computer (Dell XPS M1530 Win Vista SP1 up to Win 8 RTM) that this appeared. I got paranoid, but thanks God it was a simple fix.

I have a dual-monitor setup - a 30" 2560x1600 monitor and a 42" 1920x1080 HDTV - and mine defaults to 125%. For some reason it detects my HDTV as the primary monitor, so that may be a factor. Personally I find it annoying but it only takes a few seconds to change it.
