For the following two problems, check out the log at the bottom of this post. Anyway, here:

1. Why did the write speed change?

2. Why did it fail at roughly 80% (didn't check, watching TV)

Could it be a problem with your computer running out of resources, as I see that you are using Windows 98SE.

One thing you could try is to see if it happens on the first burn AFTER a fresh reboot. This could tell you whether it's a hardware issue or an OS issue in regards to the running software in the computer etc etc etc...

I always do this before copying CDs. Here:

Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information > Tools > System Configuration Utility > Startup Tab... then disable everything. Press OK, and restart. It still comes up...
