win8 This app can't open

Hello one and all!

Been using Windows 8 since CP right through to Friday when i purchased and installed Windows 8 Pro upgrade from the Microsoft store.

All has been running perfectly until this afternoon when suddenly i start to get errors on some apps.

Now the only thing that happened between working and broke, was the installation or Skype Modern UI app and the subsequent merge of my Skype and Windows accounts. As far as i can imagine, this would be the most likely candidate for the issue.

Basically, some (Generally the ones that need logging in to use) apps tiles have a cross in the bottom left hand corner and when trying to start them, you are greeted with the error message 'This app can't open', which isn't the most informative error message.

Please see attached images for a better idea of what i'm getting at.

Any one already have this issue happen? Any fixes out there?

Aren't they supposed to be updated?

Justa a guess.

Don't know about the cross thing, but back in CP, when I used to open store, it told me the same thing

Currently all apps are up-to-date (sorry should have mentioned that).

I've never actually come across this issue before in any of the previous test releases.

Can't edit above post but since i posted the situation has got worse.

Currently the Mail, People, Messaging, Calendar, Photos, Weather, Maps, Skydrive, Sport and News apps are suffering from the cross icon and not being able to be opened.

Smartglass, Video, Skype, Music, Store, Games and Camera continue to function fine.

Edit: SOLVED!

You can repair the borked apps from inside the store app. Just visit the page for your app and it'll pop up asking you to repair.

I'm not saying it was certainly Skype that caused the issue but it was the last thing i did before the problem appeared.
