Morphos
I wouldn't react. It wouldn't be for me, that's all, you don't make any sense. We're all human, and to one degree or another, we all revel in the dirty destructive nature we live by whether we embrace it completely or not. We make pictures or cars as wallpapers, or characters from killer video games, or hurricanes. Hell, I'd love a wallpaper of a hurricane, simply because it would be gorgeous. 300 mile per hour winds? Maybe it kills, but beauty on a scale we can appreciate often, often encorporates danger. Or innocence, the shocking lack of danger. Someone makes a wallpaper of a jet hitting the towers? I'm not offended, they're probably confused is all. In trying to elicit a response from others, they revealed a lot about them selves. While I might wish they chose to have the wallpaper to remind them of the danger of foreign policy, it doesn't make any difference to me, I still have a wallpaper myself of an infrared shot of a tornado on my background. Nature is beautiful, as is most of the things in this world that are dirty and human enough to be appreciated. Perspective is all that is required. It's a good lesson Saint Dark. M$ Agent #2
I seen some video on TV of the those fires I wish I could find some online of it... was the weirdest thing a dust devil made out of flames looked kinda cool in a pyromaniac kinda way :)
wicker_man
thanks for support and understanding, [saint dark]. maybe that will knock some sense in people's heads :)
PrntScrn
there is no comparision between the 9/11 events and these fires. The events of 9/11 were man made. It was men who purposefully flew those planes into the towers. Forest fires happen all the time in nauture. Just because some guy accidently started this one, did not mean that there would be no fire. In fact, it is man's fault that the fires are so bad. We were so concerned with NOT starting fires in teh years past that we let underbrush build up to such a level that now the fuel supply for the fire is so great, there is practically no way to stop them. Even so, the fires were not PURPOSEFULLY set to cause harm. And as for maknig a 9/11 wallpaper. It isn't a wallpaper, but have a look @ what steve moss did. http://memlo.net/pics/911/america_will_pre...evail_large.jpg Is anyone taking offence to that? I'm not. Fact of the matter: Sure, the fiers are destroying things, but that is called nature. Until mother nature learns how to fly planes, I am not able to see the comparassion between the two events. /edit origional image -> http://www.harrold.org/rfhextra/images/wtce3c.jpg now here is a wall I made in about...well it just turned to 6 minutes. satellite photo of 9/11. An amazing picture. But still makes a good wall. Edited October 30, 2003 by PrntScrn

Joe Red
PrntScrn summed it up. This is a natural occurence in life. Fires are there for a purpose, to control underbrush and tree growth. It shouldn't be looked at in some sort of evil way, a fire is not a political force!!
PrntScrn
damn, i wish i had those photoshop skills you got. now you can 'print your screen' and pray on it. .....and back in the days neowin was such a good web community...and it's not just me... tell me friend, do you try to sound like an idiot, or does it just come naturally to you? I never said I was any good at PS> None of the wall's I've made are complex. The reason I said it took me 6 minutes was to explain why the pic was jaggy as all heck, and why the overall quality of the wallpaper sucked. And as for the good community. "not it's just you." Learn to spell before you try to put yourself on a higher level than the rest of us. As far as most of are concerned (I may be making a huge assumption here) you are the only member that needs to leave here. You seem to be the only one who can't appreciate the beauty of a natural disaster. Even more so, you can't seem appreciate the beauty of the picture. You are the only person here who has any negative thing to say about the wall, and you are the only one who is turning this into a controversy. Didn't your momma ever tell you that if you can't say something nice, so nothing at all? now you can go "wicker your man" and pray on it. (btw, that makes no sence  )
kak
I think it's called sarcasm. It's obvious that you're just taking images and cutting them up / laying designs over them. And capturing the moment of an American tragedy (9/11) for your desktop is stupid. I don't see any *real* harm in using the first desktop you made, but I guess to some people it's disturbing because they either live there or know people that live there. Think about that next time. PrntScrn
I think it's called sarcasm. It's obvious that you're just taking images and cutting them up / laying designs over them. Did I ever say I did anything different? No. Heck, I even provided links to the origional images, more than I can say about 99% of the walls I see here. What makes the wall with a half naked lady on a blue background any better than this? Just remove the girl form the BG, stick it on a "classic" background and "bam!" you have a wall. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with those walls. If people want to download/create them, more power to them. That is their choice. There is just no difference between those walls and mine. Here are some walls that got great reveiws, but they are the same as mine. Just chopped up a pic and added a style or border. https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=111596 <- cutout pic, layer style https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=111147 <- cutout girl, placed on BG https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=111129 <- cutout pic, layer style https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=111337 <- cutup pic on gradient https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=109244 <- cutup a few pics of a girl, added a nifty lil grid over one of the sections https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=110130 <- beautiful wall, but is only a pic of some leaves, border, and shadow. Also, not one of those above walls has a link anywhere to the source of their image(s). So what again, is the big deal about what I've done here? Why is what I've made so different? And capturing the moment of an American tragedy (9/11) for your desktop is stupid. I don't see any *real* harm in using the first desktop you made, but I guess to some people it's disturbing because they either live there or know people that live there. Think about that next time. As of that, what if someone wants to remember their loved one? Some people have gotten tattoos to show respect for the lives lost, other people have flags in their yards, some people want to remember via a wallpaper, or screen saver. kak
Yes, we all want to remember 9/11 or such a tragedy by seeing pictures of it right after it happened. You know, I want to video tape it when my loves ones die so I can remember..right? </sarcasm>
