I am never likes Maxtor :p

I like Seagates

me too, ide rather sacrifice the 50gb tbh, my file serever is made up entirley of seagates, also my system has a fw in it, I just use wd raptors for my main boot raid array. I have a maxtor in my media center which is to be sold and replaced with a seagate when i get chance, its noisey.

I'm just getting towards the final stages of re-jigging my room (aka cleaning out all the junk), so not that I've changed my desk slightly, I figured I'd upload some slightly better pics:

This is the view of most of my desk,

main_view.jpg

The wodden shelf at the top of the pic contains some old music CDs, some drinking glasses, and 50 DVD+Rs.

external_hdd.jpg

The above pic is of the second part of the desk, which is pretty empty :) The Belkin Enclosure contains a Western Digital 80GB HDD, and the modem is a WebStar cabel modem. Just to the left of the modem is the audio control for my Creative Speakers, which I picked up this morning.

This is the actual main part of the desk - the money shot :)

laptop.jpg

The laptop is a Microstar 7276 laptop, which has the following system specs:

Intel PIV 2GHz Processor.

256MB RAM <-- I'm hoping to upgrade this to at least 512 next month.

32MB Graphics card.

20GB Internal HDD, 80GB USB2 HDD.

Dual 15" Display (2048x768)

Windows XP Professional Operating system.

Microsoft Natural Keyboard, and IntelliMouse

Between the keyboard and the laptop, I've got my mp3 player, which is a Nomad Zen (40GB Model), it's currently connected to my new speakers (I-Trigue L3500). On top of the fancy empty DVD cases ( :) ) I've got my USB Floppy Drive (above that's the remote control for my TV) and a spare USB cable, which is plugged into a 4way USB 2 hub, which is just behind the cases. I usually plug my camera into this.

second_monitor.jpg

For some reason, this pic didn't turn out to well, but it shows my second monitor, and my Multimedia Keyboard, which is plugged into my second machine, which is in the gray cabinet on the left of the first pic. On top of the Ritz crackers (:)) there's the receiver for my wireless mouse.

tv_monitor.jpg

The monitor / TV Combo is a Samsung 15" TFT model, underneath that's my old DVD Player (Plays multiregion discs no problem, the only problem is it's almost 4 years old, so it's built like a brick). The speakers are just some cheap Labtec speakers, but they do the job.

shelf.jpg

This is the shelfing I've got to the left of the right of the room, along where my desk runs. It runs the length of the room, but I only tend to use stuff in the first two rows. The books are the ones I've recently read, or (in the case of Deception Point) I'm about to read, and then next to them are some of the TV shows that I've got on DVD. On the second row, the black DVD cases (next to the Harry Potter books) are DVDs that I've created myself, they mostly contain computer backups, and other bits and pieces)

So yeah, that's my workstation, the rest of the room is currently full of the junk that I've yet to find a place for, the window and a bed. Under the desk, aside from my subwoofer, there's a 28 litre Fridge, and about 20 miles of chaotic cabling :)

Woo! Nice Monitor i have the same

It is a pretty good monitor - I didn't pay that much for it, and the picture quality is pretty dam good, when using it as a monitor, and pretty good as a TV (not perfect, but that's because of the shocking broadcast quality 'round by where I live). I'm thinking of moving the monitor and DVD player onto the "empty" desk, and getting a 17" widescreen for the second machine (which I use for DVD burning, game play and mainly storing stuff on)

Dark_ph0enix

nice mouse! I have same!! :p :p :p :p :D :D :D

Also, I see, many peoples, who posted their screens here have MS IntelliOptical 1.1A

Yeah - I've noticed that as well - I've gotta be honest, when it comes to keyboards / mice the most comfortable ones I've used have always been Microsoft ones, which is something I originally didn't think would be the case, but I guess it just goes to show. As for audio stuff - where possible I try and use Creative (both my mp3 players have been from Creative), for the simple fact that I think they're dam good :)

As for HDDs - that Western Digital has taken a hammering in the last year, in terms of the GBs that have been sent to and from it, and it's still performing excellently - once it's powered up, it and the enclosure are perfectly silent, and it generates virtually no heat.

Here is my temporary one at my parents house until I move out (hopefully soon).

The usual:

Monitor: 2 Samtron 17" CRT's (78DF, 77V)

Mouse: Logitech iFeel

Keyboard: Microsoft Natural Multimedia

WebCam: Logitech QuickCam

Speakers: Boston Acoustics Digital BA790 (2.1 Set) (discountinued unfortunately)

I dont have a digital camera so I had to hookup my camcorder to my comp with a fireware cable and view the current image on my monitor and take a screenshot with printscreen.. Thus the crappy quality..

why do you have to point out that you ahve two illegal setups? are we supposed to be impressed? jw
