nvizible
Well, I've not posted here for a while, and hence thought the situation needed to be rememdied. So, without further ado, I present... me: Firstly, my workstation at a glance: As you can see, that is my newly-acquired 22 inch (yes, you read that correctly - twenty two) monitor. I'm loving it to bits, and it's by far the best thing I've ever bought. It also just happened to set my back about as much as a modest 17" LCD would've, yet is considered the best CRT in the world. After having it for about a month and a half, I've decided I'll never go the LCD route, but rather wait for SED displays to become commonplace! And here's another photo of my monitor: (no, the upper surround isn't curved, it's just my camera playing a few last tricks on me!) And now for my headphones: They're really nice, with rather good bass, though I feel that somehow they could sound fuller. (basically, they need a proper amp. and not my soundcard.) Oh, and if anyone was wondering, that's boiling hot tea next to them. And a nice pic. of my Qpad: If there's one thing that annoys me about some people here on neowin, it's that many users claim mousepads to be useless, (mainly those who've never tried a good pad), and advocate the use of desks (*eugh*) upon which they claim they can use (I'd positively call it abuse), their mouse. I find that my Qpad is just perfect! I've tried a number of good pads, including the steelpad 4d, which I loved, though it tore my mouse skatez to pieces, and large cloth pads like the FatPad and DKTPad. None of them stack up to the hybrid surface provided by the QPad! It feels almost like a cloth pad, yet with less slipperiness, and more responsiveness. It is also very kind to my skatez, as I'm not made of gold, and Teflon just happens to be slightly costly! Next up is a full view of the shelves ontop of my desk: ... and a view of the left side ... ... and of the right side ... The lamp, if anyone should want to know, was bought not by myself, but by my mum - somewhere in Southgate, London, though I'm not sure exactly where. And, I'll even throw in a pic of the lower shelves: And one of the corner of my desk, where I just happen to keep my toothbrush (for some strange reason): The calendar is from Rome (my mum bought it back for me after returning from her holiday there last week - I of course, had to stay behind!) The peg there (if anyone was curious) is to keep my mouse cord from sliding backwards through the hole that I've cut for it. I'd get a steelpad cord holder, but I've not the cash right now. The toothbrush (for those interested in dental technology) is a Braun Professional Care 5500! My case: It's an Arctic Cooling Silentium T2, with all fans inside it (including the PSU fans, thanks to a little bit of clever modding) undervolted to 5V, which is regulated by an antec fan controller behind the fascia-######-door thing. All of my silencing has, believe it or not, made my computer considerably "silent"! I can only just tell that it's on if it's a really quiet night. (apart from the heat which it exudes, which can be likened to a 350 watt convection heater being placed a few inches from one's.) Last (though certainly not least) is my chair: It's O.K. at best, and I wasn't expecting much more of a 100 quid Argos chair. However, I'm planning to save furiously, and either buy a Herman Miller Aeron chair (a sound investment, in my opinion), or one of these. I've sat on both, and find the latter slightly more comfortable due to its headrest, though I'd probably say less durable - Herman Miller chairs are simply indestructable! *Phew* That concludes my rather lengthy post, I guess. If anyone has questions, please ask them! Post Scriptum: Sorry about the rant when it comes to mouse pads, I just feel rather strongly about the subject! ;) Edited August 26, 2005 by nvizible Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/112422-post-your-workstation-photos/page/435/#findComment-586436699 Share on other sites
.....
Hey andrewfee what size TV is that??Looks nice. 586432597[/snapback] It's a 32" LCD. I'm actually planning on selling it now; before I did up my room, I was looking diagonally onto it, giving me about 8/9ft of viewing distance. I'm now about 5/6ft because I'm looking straight onto it, so 32" is a bit big for SD content. Then again, when the next-gen consoles come out, most of my time will be spent with HD material... It's going to be hard to adjust though; if only you could get good 28" LCDs. (am looking at the new Sony V series displays) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/112422-post-your-workstation-photos/page/435/#findComment-586436979 Share on other sites
