Windows ME problem playing audio cds with WMP9-10

Recommended Posts

I heard windows ME is very stable after you upgrade the beta internet explorer/wmp that it came with and disable system restore... Ill try updating the drivers from dell website if not ill just go back to windows 98 se. I prefer the updated explorer that windows ME has and has better USB support.

Yes I browse the internet with it... I also run mirc/aim on it too and use it to email people I use it mostly for dos and windows 9x games. Plus using old things makes me hard :D

fraid not mate, its the other way round. analogue uses the old cable from optical drive to sound card, digital pulls the data using CDDA like a data disk :)

Many drives also had a digital output on them, making it possible to get digital audio directly to your sound card.

If your drive had the function controls on the front you didn't even need a computer to use it. Just connect it to power and you had a makeshift CD player.

Its hooked up right because It worked fine before I went from 98 to ME

yeah I removed dameon tools and it fixed the problem has something to do with this :

Q: Why won't WMP support digital playback on my CD-ROM drive if I change its drive letter?

A: Brief investigation seems to indicate that this is a bug in Win9x when multiple CD-ROM drives are installed. Let Windows decide the drive letter and you'll be fine. Alternatively, Barry Watzman sez that Adaptec Easy CD Creator, Music Match Jukebox (which rips to WMA), and Audio Grabber all support digital ripping in this configuration. [supposedly DAEMON Tools also causes digital playback to fail, because it also changes the CD-ROM drive letter.]

Adaptec EZ CD creator was the bom diggity!!! IT WOULD RIP CDS AT 56X OMG!!!! HYPERSPEED RIPPER DRIVE!!!!

HYPER-MAX-DXP AUDIO PLAYER:

Hello,

If you have a choice, consider using MusicMatch Jukebox Plus. I had a purchased a copy of the for use on my Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition-based HTPC system prior to Yahoo! acquiring the company, and it worked quite well for transcoding and playing MP3s on my system.
