Is anyone playing on Windows 10? I am having stupid low drops at times and sometimes it's just unplayable. A friend told me about a crashing issue when using DX11 so I have it at 10.1 and all the settings are as low as I can get them. I play at 1080 with a i7 4770 and an R9 270. I even turned off my second monitor to get a measly few more FPS.

An earlier suggestion about the VSync did help some.

I'm playing on Windows 10 with no issues but keep in mind my rig has twin 780 Ti's in SLI so that's a big reason why I don't have perf issues.

Question!  Does anyone know if the Steam version automatically saves your GTA V progress to Steam's cloud?  My HD decided to eat itself last night and I've lost -everything- that was on it, including all game saves for all my games... :(

Good question. They do track progress on Rockstar Social Club, but I don't know about saving to it.

Apparently your single player progress doesn't get saved to the Steam Cloud (annoyingly) so I think you have probably lost your saves  :/

 

Your online progress gets saved to the Rockstar Social Club so that's all that you will have.

FYI GTA V save games are located in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\Profiles<user-id>\ if you want to start backing it up somewhere.

This always amazed me when I reinstalled Max Payne 3. The single player was never saved by R* Social or Steam. All the single player progress had to be redone.

 

Looks like they haven't really changed anything in that regard.

Well, their development was primarily for consoles, but lacking those features is a sin on PC.

 

The real sin about it is that the Profiles folder is 2.3 mb on my system, and from the files inside, half of that size is .bak files.

Driving is way better with the XBAWKS controller on the PC - granted aiming is worse.

Played it for a couple of hours - runs well on a meager 970 GPU.

Hard parts so far is remembering the controlls... lots of buttons. I think special requires pressing down both sticks... eh...

I am getting a three angry men vibe from GTAV - haven't unlocked the angriest one though. And yes, I never played GTAV before.

Disabed VSYNC and DOF and extended the draw distance to the max. Rest of the settings on default.

you should take a look at the geforce experiance settings I dont usually trust options I didnt set but it put my settings way higher than gta said I could run reasonbly well above the video memory I had (gtx 760 2gb) and it runs great 58 or so frames a second

 

 

also noticed they killed car damage in the game really hope its added back in I miss doing things like this

I don't know about playlists, but you can create shortcuts to the files instead of copying

Folder shortcuts should work too, never tried a playlist but with the game requiring Windows Media Foundation to install, I would guess WMP friendly playlists should be supported.

This game really ought to do session changes better. Can't they determine if a session is full before taking you out of your current session? Or if the stupid "targetting mode" was different before? Or if the job is no longer there? Just trying to find a job can leave you loading in and out of sessions and dealing with loading screens for no real reason. It's really the only thing that irks me about this game. You should be able to continue playing while finding a job.

I think the whole online thing is a bit of a joke TBH.  It's not very well done, and sooooo slow to connect/disconnect to it!

 

I'd rather have more story mode content. thanks.

I was fed up of the X360 release's handling of multiplayer and it sounds exactly the same but with more hackers now... I'll wait until multiplayer that isn't reliant on R* is released, unless they get around to answering users' complaints.

Playing gta online on my pc lately, the experience is a nightmare when doing heists with random people, they just leave during a heist or do stuff that gets themselves killed...

I've been adding people I've had good experience with to my friendlist so I got myself a list of people to invite which aren't maniacs, not able to speak english or suddenly leaving during heists.

If anyone wants to add me: seahorsepip

I'm already rank 78 and got everything unlocked, bought most things and done most things :p

Finally found someone with a hearse car yesterday so I'm adding a hearse to my car collection too :D

Go checkout GTA Forums you'll meet good people there. So how many times have you been blown up and money dropped you from the modders? But I will warn you 98.9% of them complain and b*tch about everything on this game but continue to play it lmao. Also there is an update coming next week!

Lastly, don't just let any rank join, you will have more problems then you have now. Also, helps to make sure they have a mic and ask o the final heist if they can fly. If not give them a different role. Alas at any point since you don't get paid for setups put your % at 40% then the others 20%. Unless they were with you during setups then I'd do 25% for everyone to be fair. If only 1 person was with you for setups and the finale then do 30, 30, 20, 20.

When you get to PS finale let hacker or demo take all the cash bc of two people take it you'll lose A LOT of it. Will also help if whoever can't ride a motorcycle to pair up with someone who can.

Upgrade to PS4 or XB1 and those problems will go away.

Always end up on dividing money by 40 20 20 20. I try to invite friends instead of random people if possible, even rank 100+ randoms have messed up my heists...

And I try to avoid money drops and hackers etc. Once had a hacker which kept stalking me so I loaded up CE and manually kicked him from the session, was the only time I ever used CE on this game :p

 

There is really no need to hack on this game, money is too easily earned anyway.

 

I'm currently rank 79, almost finally able to buy Combat MG  :D
