webeagle12 Posted April 4, 2013 Share Posted April 4, 2013 Images of the 600-ton stator that fell Sunday morning, killing one man and injuring eight others, are beginning to surface online. Wade Walters, 24, of Russellville was killed Sunday when the stator, which was being moved as part of a planned upgrade at Arkansas Nuclear One, fell after a "turbine temporary lift device failed," according to a report on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission website. Funeral services for Walters, an avid outdoorsman and employee of Precision Surveillance Corporation, have been scheduled for Thursday. Entergy officials said seven of the eight workers injured in the accident have been released from Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. The company did not release the names of those injured, citing health care privacy laws. Both reactors at Arkansas Nuclear One are in "stable shutdown condition" and there is no imminent threat to the public, Entergy officials said. Even in gas / coal / oil fueld plants big things can fall & squash people like bugs. Yep, looks like it was just a general heavy machinery/factory accident. It is good though that they are giving full details though so that the public doesn't go into a "OMG NUKES" frenzy and create a false fear.
