SpikeTV and GameTrailers to skip PS4 this year!

Recommended Posts

Sorry our coverage of E3 will be an Microsoft and EA event

Is this the work of under-the-table Microsoft dollars?

Or does SpikeTV think the PS4 will suck so bad, its not even worth covering during the upcoming E3 event next week!

If you are Sony fan, you better visit the E3 in person, as the major news site GameTrailers and SpikeTV channel that has always covered all big press conferences from the E3, has decided this year only Microsoft and their XBOX ONE console along with EA are worth covering.

We all know Nintendo is planning their own 'Nintendo Direct', but for Sony and their new PS4 they have yet to announce any official streams for their press conference, so its up in the air, where you going to see some live footage, all tho 'DashHacks' promises to arrange something, and I am sure dozens of other smaller sites will be filling in the void left by GameTrailers, but if you stuck in TV land, you going to be forced to watch DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story on SpikeTV, is it their way of saying Sony and PS4 sucks....

This sad news comes direct from Geoff Keighley, the official host of E3 2013, so it looks like the rumors of Spike skipping Sony is true!

NEWS SOURCE: PS4 Conference will not air on Spike TV (via) DashHacks

****ed. GT always seem to have the best quality/most stable stream. :(

Wait. Is this for real? GameTrailers is my go-to site for E3 videos. If this is true, then I won't even visit their site. What kind of respectable video game news site would do this?

GameTrailers used to be my go-to site for gaming videos but it's not been worth visiting since the redesign. Any site refusing to cover either the PS4 or X1 should be avoided, as it means they aren't concerned with gaming but with whichever company offers them the most money.

Correct, we will be streaming all the E3 conferences online as part of our coverage, but Sony will not be on Spike. I would love to have had PlayStation on Spike, but the late start time (primetime on the east coast) makes it very difficult. That said we are working on some awesome content for PS fans that will be a part of our live coverage on TV.

I wonder how much money was given to go ms exclusive.

Considering these are supposed to be "respectable" sites/companies...yeah, there was definitely money involved. Well-played Microsoft, but seriously, this is extremely disappointing if true. I thought GT and SpikeTV were better than that. I'll be getting videos and news elsewhere.

Okay. I can kinda understand an issue with live coverage on TV. I don't have a problem with it personally because I don't watch SpikeTV.

Some of you jumping to silly conclusions yet again without looking at the whole story. This is about live TV, aka SpikeTV. They're still going to cover it on the web like always. People who think MS paid for some sorta exclusivity, hah, all they did was plan better and pick a time where they knew they could get SpikeTV to air it. It seems Sony just can't manage to do the same.

So they're giving up the US market, ok. :)

Microsoft has the US market, Sony has the European and Asian markets which are quite a bit bigger. Seems to me Microsoft has given up those markets basing its box around US TV services.

So they're not airing it because it interferes with airing ANOTHER rerun of Dodgeball? It was on tonight. They run that movie several times a week all summer. That's a **** poor excuse.

Can't help but laugh at some people jumping on the drama/hater wagon when most can't make a difference between SpikeTV and the actual GT site which will cover all events. Bloody kids.

Sounds exactly like SpikeTV. All that's missing is the tapout shirts, monster energy drinks, and more sports.

Anyway, no big loss. Lack of coverage just means lack of viewers to their respective networks.

I would not call Gamespot or IGN smaller web sites. And they will surely without any doubt cover the PS4. They are profesionnal after all.

None.

Are you sure on this one or just your usual believe rumors as facts?

I did not say they were good. I said they were professional. Something a web site not covering the PS4 press event would not be by a mile.

I think you mix being good with being professional.

The hockey player Travis Moen is a professional. He plays in the NHL. He doesn't miss any training. He does what his coach wants him to do. He is still a very very bad player and i would like him to be traded out of my team.
