illage3
Windows XP, Vista and 7 all had a way to use third party visual styles. All you had to do was patch the system and and find a theme. I'll show you how to do this in Windows 8. Before you continue please be aware that if you mess something up then its down to you and you alone. I take no responsibility for damages that might occur. Patching the system A lot of people would probably tell you that you need to use UXstyle or some other application. WRONG you can patch the system like you did on Windows XP, Vista and 7. The patch I used was UltraUXThemePatcher [ http://www.syssel.ne...eme.php?lang=en ] BEFORE PATCHING MAKE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT!!!!! Run the patcher and follow the on screen instructions. Let your computer restart, and enter desktop mode (Windows Key + D) and if the normal Windows 8 theme is still there then that means the patch has worked. If it reverts to the classic theme (or another really ugly look) then the patcher hasn't worked and you'll need to restore to a point you made before the patch and then try patching it again. Using Visual Styles Its simple really, all you need to do is copy the themes to C:\Windows\Resources\themes double click the visual style and BAM! You're done. Enjoy using your new theme on Windows 8 Below is what my Windows 8 Desktop looks like. I am using the Base theme by Link 6155 on DeviantArt if you use this theme you'll notice that you don't need to patch system DLL files to get the navigation bar working.
