jEN0VA
Maybe I'm blind, but I'm not seeing how you're supposed to import music into the Xbox Music app. I've placed my music in the Music folder Windows creates for you but my music isn't showing up. I didn't think the old Libaries were in Windows 8.1 and if they are I can't find them. Louisifer
Have you tried opening windows media player? If that isn't picking up your new music then try changing the settings from there, they share the same settings/backend stuff. theyarecomingforyou
Click the arrow / breadcrumb next to 'This PC', select 'Libraries', select 'Music', select 'Manage' from the ribbon, click 'Manage library' and then add the folder with your music in. The Xbox Music app will then automatically add all the music. It's a horrible process, as there should be a simple way of doing it from with in the app. TPreston 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1161898-how-do-you-add-music-to-xbox-music-app-in-81/#findComment-595790590 Share on other sites
jEN0VA
I loaded up Windows Media Player and it found the files instantly. Xbox Music app still says it can't find them. As shown in the second screenshot, there is no Libraries folder even with the arrow clicked. I heard Libraries were removed in 8.1. When I loaded up 8.1 for the first time this is what it looked like, with premade folders for various media. theyarecomingforyou
Libraries are definitely still there in Windows 8.1. I'm using it now and I did a clean install. It's the other breadcrumb: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1161898-how-do-you-add-music-to-xbox-music-app-in-81/#findComment-595790618 Share on other sites
George P Global Moderator Posted June 29, 2013 Global Moderator Share Posted June 29, 2013 Even without using libraries the default Music user folder is the default location both WMP and XBM index so they should pick it up. That's kinda weird actually. thomastmc
I just right clicked my music folder and included it in the "Music" library. WMP and Xbox Music found it fine. Darrian
Yeah, it's kind of funny how the music app tells you to put your music in the music library, but then they made the libraries less accessible by default.
