Showan
Just hear me out. I don't know abouth others but, I've always loved Darth Vader over Skywalker. Magneto over Xavier. Bad Shepard over good Shepard. I'm not an evil guy by any means, and all the above has at one point or another did the right thing for the greater good. Microsoft has been been getting slammed for almost 3months now. Ever since the reveal, they have not been able to catch a break. Its as if it's one thing after another (and that's not even including products outside of Xbox). I say fight back, and with a vengeance. No, I don't mean be a jerk towards consumers. Like how they are trying with the Surface commercials, knocking the iPad (though it's not working for them in the tablet market). It could work for them in the Gaming space. Microsoft, you have already been labeled the evil empire. Time to embrace it. No, I don't mean rip the consumer off. Like when Sony kicked hard while you were down kind of evil. I'm all in with the Xbox One, but Sony played their hand very well. Buy a 3rd party studio that loves making Playstation games, just to be a jerk. Heck even find a way to work with Nintendo (though that would be impossible) and brag about it. Embrace being the Villain. I know the Villain usually loses, but this fight can be a victory for the Villain. Get Disney, to let you use Vader in your Xbox One ads (still hate the fact they own Satr Wars now), can you picture hearing a Vader voice saying Xbox On in a commercial. Geek like me would love it. Heck I would buy a PS4 dev kit, make something awesome ( not a game though, that would be to time consuming) for it and never release it. Show it off to the press, and then brag that they can make Playstation software better than Sony can. Sony right now as it stands, is the 'Can't do wrong, Golden Child'... Mite as well be the Nemisis. Embrace your inner Villain, Microsoft... Embrace it...

Active. Sounds fun. I'm all for it (not that I really care about consoles either way) . :)
compl3x
No company would intentionally create a negative image of itself. There are plenty of MS/Xbox fans. This forum proves there is still a lot o loyalty to that brand. GotBored 1 Share

GotBored
Microsoft to sony in vaders voice? Sony i am your father Luke Skywalker beats Vader in the final duel before Vader gets killed, not really a good image to market a storyline where you competitor beats you and then you die. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted August 3, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted August 3, 2013 It just so happens that ****ing with gamers never ends well, so many companies have experienced this by now. Your overall image could still be iffy in the masses eyes (across all your products and services), but if you please the gamers, you'll gain some extremely strong vocal loyalty. So no, being a villain in the gamers eyes is never going to end well. I do not even think Apple loyalty surpasses the lengths gamers go to. trooper11
No, just no. MS has been on the right path for weeks now, they are actually turning things around with positive news. This isn't a movie or a WWE performance. No company would intentionally create a negative image of itself. There are plenty of MS/Xbox fans. This forum proves there is still a lot o loyalty to that brand. This forum proves very little. Maybe it proves that the console wars have infected every forum (i.e. the ridiculous arguments, trolling, bash...blah...blah...blah). Over the years of following such forums, it seems clear they rarely reflect the real popularity of a product. Internet posters are very fickle and can turn on a product very quickly and hold long grudges.

trooper11
They already have, it's called "Windows 8 / 8.1" That's not really embracing the bad guy role. They release 8, consumers complain, MS makes fixes for 8.1 and beyond. The bad guy role is more the Apple approach (at least under Steve Jobs) where you basically ignore or don't react to issues for the life of a product. Heck, MS gets attacked for changing plans that people didn't like in the first place. Showan 1 Share
GotBored
They release 8 with features no one wanted and made it more touchscreen friendly which rarely anyone uses for Desktop PC or Laptop then consumers complain, MS makes small fixes for 8.1 and beyond those fixes are being released more than 1 year after the initial release of WIndows 8. Fixed it for you. :) Lord Method Man, +Anarkii and Raa 3 Share

Which is why I find it laughable how some people think Microsoft can do no wrong, that overbearing DRM checks were okay, and that indie gamers didn't need anything more because screw indie games. That's why I like Microsoft; they're not pompous jerks like some of the fan base...

My point was more about the level of defence Microsoft receives on this forum for any and all of their products even if something is objectively bad or inferior. The rose-tinted glasses on this forum about MS is staggering. This topic is to some degree proof of it. You existentially have someone saying "Hey, MS, deliberately be unlikeable so people will like you". WTF kind of logic is that!? trag3dy and GotBored 2 Share
The Evil Overlord
To be honest I don't understand why they haven't tried to spin this into an 'XBox One; The Bad Boy of gaming' type deal (Like what Sony did with S.A.P.S.)

GotBored
That's why I like Microsoft; they're not pompous jerks like some of the fan base... Like when Microsoft Xbox Executive Don Mattrick told people who had no stable internet connection to buy a 8 year old console 'Xbox 360" instead? Don Mattrick ? ?Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it?s called Xbox 360.? Or when they tell you direct lies? ?I mean we?re really not going to change anything we?ve done with Xbox One.? ? Major Nelson aka Larry Hryb, 96 hours before changing the whole DRM policy. Or the ?#dealwithit? ? Adam Orth, Ex-Creative Director at Microsoft Studios trend. I could keep going, but realistically it doesn't matter to me how they conduct themselves at the end of the day if the product is good and I want it I'll buy it. With that being said I'm only getting the Xbox One for its kinect features cause that's the only thing I think the Xbox One has over the PS4, PS4 I'll buy to play all other games that don't utilize motion-free controls. +Anarkii 1 Share
+Anarkii Subscriber² Posted August 4, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted August 4, 2013 I used to love Microsoft, just like everyone else I used to download and install builds of Windows all the time. I even did it with 8, but since then, its true, Microsoft have lost their way, and now I havent gotten a build of Windows 8 since Beta 1. The only Microsoft product that is half decent these days is Microsoft Office 2013. Im just hoping Windows 9 is actually built for desktop users in mind...
