Gmail to kill old compose interface, roll out pop-up design to everyone

It's time to bid the old Gmail compose farewell, now that the service is sunsetting the antiquated interface completely. We can't say we didn't see it coming when pop-up compose became the default option, but we'll bet that doesn't make things easier for those who've been dreading this moment. If you've been holding on to the old ways, expect your account to make the switch in the next few days as the permanent change rolls out. There's really nothing you can do about it short of abandoning Gmail, but at least you can expand that teensy window whenever you need a bigger space to work with. As for those who've been using the new compose from the very beginning: carry on, Google's non-wayward sons.

It's not perfect, but I prefer the new bottom right pop-up over the old "fullscreen" compose.

It feels a bit odd at first as the compose space is smaller (although you can expand it to a bigger pop-up) but being able to browse all your other mail while writing is great. Before this change I often had to keep two gmail tabs open.

I guess people might not need that for casual home use, but at work it's really useful.

Not a fan. Preferred their old layout, should at least make the popout window a toggle.. it's ok when you're able to drag the popout onto another monitor, but the current setup is fairly clunky. I don't typically use the web interfaces anyway for mail services unless I absolutely have to though, much much prefer using Outlook to interface with GMail and my other accounts.
