Ebay seller asking for more money after sale...should I pay?

Recommended Posts

Don't just give him bad feedback.  Also use the official dispute process at eBay to file a report against the seller.  If you and all others who experience this kind of crap just tolerate it, he will continue doing it to others.

However, it's important to remember, eBay rules state that you may not threaten to leave bad feedback to coerce a user into doing anything.  So, don't threaten bad feedback!  If anything at all, just inform them you'll be using the report process.  (Y).

on one hand, it is utter BS,  but he refunded and offered a somewhat understandable explanation. that said, I guess he has that negative feedback coming his way anyway

You shouldn't be doing ANYTHING.

You paid what was owed. He needs to send you your item. /EndOfStory

There should be absolutely no further discussion/negotiation between you and the Seller.

People keep assuming he has given you a choice to pay more or get a refund... that's bull****.

There is NO choice. He owes you what you paid for. Period. If he does not send your item, report

him and leave Negative feedback. And clearly state in the feedback that the Seller waited until after

you paid what was owed to try an coerce you into paying more.

You need to remember that there is no risk to the Seller to give a refund. THAT is the scam. He waits

until you have paid and then demands more money while putting a guilt trip on you. If you pay more, he

wins. If you get a refund, he just does it again hoping to scam the next guy.

Yup, the guy waited until you committed to the sale and then tried change the terms of the contract. Big no-no.

Glad to read the OP got his money back and was able to obtain the product he wanted. :)

I didn't threaten at all. These were my exact words to him. "Fine. Please cancel this order immediately and initiate the refund process." I didn't tell him that I will be reporting him, but I intend to tonight itself.

Hmm, interesting. Yeah, the dollar exchange excuse is pretty lame. And he gave his bank account details in the very first email after the sale was done.

Yeah, thankfully Ebay has Buyer Protection! In India it is called PaisaPay, and the entire amount of the listing is held with Ebay until the Buyer selects the "Received Item" option in My Ebay.

Yup, my HDD is already on it's way from that other portal. Ordered last night, shipped today morning itself! :D
