Unable to open Excel document on WP7

I have an Excel document called costs.xlsx that I created in SkyDrive and am able to open and edit using the Excel web app, however when I try to open the file on my WP7 device it says Can't open  - Excel doesn't recognize the file format "costs".

 

What's up with this? The file hasn't ever been edited by anything other than the SkyDrive web application.
