Microsoft Windows is 30 years old

the OS for excellence

What do you mean by that?

Anyway, I think it's great that we have lots of OS choices nowadays for our computing devices, including Windows (RT/8), high-quality Linux distributions, OS X, iOS and Android. Although one would wish that the entry fee to get a Mac (and thus OS X) was a bit lower.... Obviously Windows will continue to run on a vast majority of Desktop machines for the foreseeable future, despite the fact that its Desktop market share is likely about to fall below 90%. I'm sure in 10 years it'll still be somewhere in that region. But in the overall scheme of things, I doubt that Windows will ever again be as ubiquitous as it used to be, which is a very, very good thing, as far as I'm concerned (and not because it's Microsoft or Windows - the same would be true for Apple or Google or any other company and their products if they had held such a monopoly - in fact, hopefully we won't arrive at a similar situation with Android).
