Showan
Sony has released a firmware update for the PlayStation 4 that is required for many features on the console. However, this update also results in stability issues while playing games on the system. This affects all games on the PS4, including EA titles, causing crashing/freezing and non-responsive connections between the player's console and their TV Screen. Unfortunately since it's an issue with Sony's firmware, it requires a new update to fix it. Sony is working to resolve the issue as quickly as they can. They will update their System Update page as new versions are made available, and we will keep this page updated as we find out more. https://help.ea.com/article/sony-playstation-4-update-1-5-instability Thief000 1 Share
Showan
I don't really like EA (at least the EA Sports side of things), but figure this would be a good heads up for the early adopters thinking that there is something wrong with the hardware (when there isn't)
greenwizard88
So the bugs in EA games are Sony's fault? Forgive me for not believing them right away. I'll wait to see what Sony says. The Evil Overlord 1 Share

I agree... But with the "Socially Connected" world we live in... A spec of an issue (or non issue) becomes magnified beyond belief... switch6
The "non-responsive connections between the player's console and their TV screen" part of the message might be related to the HDMI issue reported earlier in a small fraction of the production units? Maybe that problem is more far reaching than first anticipated? None-the-less, I didn't expect any launch to go smoothly. Here's hoping Microsoft's XBox One is released without a hitch like this... { cross-fingers }

D. S. Veteran Posted November 15, 2013 Veteran Share Posted November 15, 2013 It happens sometimes. I remember when a FW upgrade made "Uncharted" freeze. The update came out with perfect timing: when I was starting to play the game!
soniqstylz
EA now says it was a mistake. http://videogamesandnews.com/ps4s-red-line-death-true/ UPDATE 3: EA has removed their statement about the firmware issues and said the statement was a mistake. So it?s still unclear what this issue is related to.
