IE is not optimized for Webkit and Gecko benchmarks :/ PS4 browser was panned in all reviews whereas IE-Xbox has been praised in 3 reviews I have seen. trooper11
That's weird. Most of the reviews remarked that IE was faster than the ps4 browser, but these tests say different. I guess I'll see for myself Friday. Thief000 and SecretAgentMan 2 Share

I'm gonna take all these results (PS4 & One) with a pinch of salt. Both Sony and Microsoft will push updates that will make the browsers much better... and I suspect this will be done sooner rather than later... I am wondering if the XBO IE is running only on two cores reserved for the WinRT partition and PS4 might be throwing the entire hardware at it because there is no real side-by-side multi-tasking there. notchinese
Definitely something wrong with those numbers. That scores worse than the first gen Surface RT. (So does the PS4 for that matter)

I really doubt the dashboard is given full resources even when out of game due to app optimisation and complications. Considering IE11 smashes every other desktop browser on the same tests, its quite clear.

IE is installed on the Windows OS side and we all know that OS only gets access to up to 2 cores of cpu resources.

JonnyLH
Conflicting views. So is it optimized or not? Ofcourse it will be optimised, but considering a full game can run in the background while you've got the dash open and it keeps the last game played in a paused state. Then it will only be given a fixed amount of resources which will be minimal compared to the full system.

So you think anandtech (One of the biggest hardware/tech review sites on the web) would leave a game running in the background while conducting a browser test? JonnyLH
So its true that the browser is slower on the Xbox One? Ofcourse its going to be. I've never said otherwise. When its got the fraction of the power to work with. Run IE11 on a desktop PC and it nails those tests, they're the same browsing engine. It's obvious, I don't get why people are questioning it. Showan
I've never tested the browser on a PS4, but the browser on the One is good and responsive enough to me. And being able to use my G-Nex or iPad2 as a keyboard in smartglass mode is a welcomed experience IMHO
BajiRav
Conflicting views. So is it optimized or not?How are those posts conflicting? - Microsoft never optimizes IE for synthetic benchmarks. You will have Chrome/Firefox beating IE11 handily in many such but when it comes to actual websites, IE11 leaves both of them in the dust. - It is possible that XBO-IE is running in the WinRT partition and thus not getting full CPU resources like the PS4 browser possibly is. (notice how many times I said possible because this is a guess based on known info) About Anandtech not mentioning this - it won't be the first time they missed something important. They recently wondered why Windows 8.1 on MacBookAir was such a battery hog compared to OS X Mavericks. I can tell why without thinking, they still don't AFAIK. Crimson Rain
I'm sure PS4 browser will be left in the dust for (at least) more than half of these tests... http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive

Yes I wouldn't expect much if any noticeable differences, its just funny watching people argue over it which is why I bothered to post here.
