EA Earns Perfect Rating for 'Workplace Equality'

Recommended Posts

While EA generates a fair share of bad press on a variety of fronts from time to time, it's hard to deny that the company has a pretty good track record when it comes to workforce diversity and inclusiveness in its various studios. In this year's Corporate Equality Index from the Human Rights Campaign, the company scored a 100 percent rating. Corporate Equality Index is part of the group's 2014 Best Places To Work report.

The Corporate Equality Index analyzed the policies and procedures of 304 companies for the report and EA was one of the few that got a perfect rating. Much of this was attributed to the company's Diversity & Inclusion Team, which supported Pride Parades in San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Orlando, Austin and Stockholm. The company also hosted the Full Spectrum event, which brought together industry leaders and rights groups to discuss issues facing the LGBT community in gaming. It was also the official sponsor of the first annual GaymerX convention.

"We're very proud that EA has been named a 'Best Place to Work' by HRC again this year and that our organization has been recognized for providing a workplace that is inclusive and where everyone feels welcome," said Andre Chambers, head of Diversity & Inclusion, in a statement. "We look forward to continuing that tradition in 2014."

Congratulations to EA for earning this notable accolade.

Yeah, all their games are equally buggy, unfinished, uninspired and unoriginal when they hit Origin.

I can't decide myself on which video game company I hate the most: Activision or EA

In my mind I've continually heard bad stuff from EA. I remember there being something about Activision, but that was a while ago. For me that means there's no contest, EA are worse. That does mean that this article surprised me though, EA have done something right?

What scares me the most is that Mass Effect is now a EA game... Dragon Age too.  I see them trying to milk the cow until it's dry and dead in a near future with these series.   See what they did with Dead Space.. they completely killed it. In the case of Battlefield, it's beginning to look like they'll release a new game every year, without any real evolution.

Activision haven't really pushed the boundaries in the last couple of years with their COD franchise.

I get annoyed having to stare at that message on every Ubisoft game for like 5-10 seconds saying "This game was made by a multicultural group of various faiths and beliefs".

I don't care who made the game.

From their perspective they probably think "why bother"? It rakes in the cash every year so who wants to mess with a winning formula?

Probably do that to avoid any accusations of discrimination. The Ass Creed games have religious tones and themes which is probably why they put that msg at the beginning.

not to mention the equally bugged, and in some cases, poorly executed games :p

This is what happens when you let people other than white males make your games.

Me? I'm happy the company single-handedly butchering a dozen Gaming Companies in the pursuit of nickel and diming the customers has perfect workplace equality.

This should be their official motto.
