not 1080p, not 60fps!

Developers backtrack on their earlier comments, shocking :p. 360 won't receive an HDMI port, Kinect won't be unbundled, Sony won't charge for MP, there will be 2 HDMI ports, 4D and 120FPS PS3s ;)

Lynching him over that comment is jumping the gun too. He never said every game will be 1080/60, he said we'll be hearing it a lot when it comes to PS4 and so far this is true in comparison to X1.

I think the bigger question is... are we still uber excited for Watch Dogs? Because I see people losing their shizzle over this game, but I just don't see the hype. Is something wrong with me? :ermm:

The delay hurt it but I'm going to be playing it on my PC since I don't own either next gen console at the moment.  The game still has me interested and still looks good but it seems gamers, at least a group of them on the internet, can't look past res and frames and take the game as a whole.  Passing judgment on something without even playing it yet because it's not 1080p on the consoles?  It's pretty silly at this point.

I'm not passing judgement, I just think people should go in without all the hype. I feel better about a game surprising me than having an overhyped game just let me down because it's supposed to be "so g?d". The delay did hurt it too, I'll admit.

Guess we'll have to see what happens. The resolution aspect to it is stupid though, that's for sure. One thing that can be said is that... you can't go wrong with PC if one is going to complain about frames. :p

No hype on my part, what hyped it up was the original E3 video with the pretty graphics which we know aren't going to be the same on the consoles, closer on the PC though.  I have set expectations for it, first it's open world and it's from Ubisoft.  I think it's safe to say that if you've played the Assassins Creed games and like them, then this is around the same lines, or GTA with a twist etc.  I plan to get it because I know I'll at least get a solid 40hrs of gameplay from this, heck I spent close to 60hrs in AC4, and that for me makes it worth it as a game.

Hrrrmkay...this entire new gen of consoles is turning out to be a joke and Sony is riding a dangerous overhype train. Getting Watch Dogs on PC.

Does everyone who keeps railing on Shahid know he works with indies? Pretty much every, if not every title in his field is 1080p/60FPS.

Larry Hryb was asked software related questions, wasn't he? This guy works at Sony and he didn't limit his statements to indies.

To which he chose to respond to, so your point? Even if you don't want to limit it to indies, indie titles outnumber the "larger" titles in the PS4 catalogue just now so it is something we've heard a lot

My point is that when a person has high profile and/or highly visible position at a company, they represent the company and whatever they say will stick to them and the company.

This guy made blanket statements and they are coming back to bite him.

But they're not? As I explained on the last page, he didn't say every game. He said we would be hearing about it a lot, and we have.

A blanket statement would suggest he was being vague, but more importantly saying it without any evidence. Vague? Maybe, it seems to have confused you into thinking that it means everything.

He works with indies, all of which have been 1080p/60FPS I believe, and even middle range titles like Trials are 1080p/60FPS. Top end we've seen MGS Ground Zeros do 1080p/60FPS and Ghosts, KZ SP. Tomb Raider I wouldn't say so, under 60 far too often. But yeah we are hearing about 1080/60 a fair bit... So there is the evidence for the "blanket statement".

Considering he's getting heat after Watch Dogs, I think that's a bad title to pick, sure many are a little surprised at 900p given inFamous, but 1080/60 for an open world game is not really something most expect as a standard at this point. They are generally the most taxing kind of games.

But they're not? As I explained on the last page, he didn't say every game. He said we would be hearing about it a lot, and we have.

Give me 60 fps or death is not a blanket statement?  (see a few posts above yours) Your nitpicking is just weird. In any case, my original reference to his tweet was supposed to be humorous but I failed at properly writing it (shouldn't post from work ) so let me elaborate.

I meant we are hearing those two words in regards to PS4 but in this manner ---> The game is not 1080p and not 60fps.

They couldn't hit 1080p or 60FPS in two of their AAA platform exclusives Killzone MP and infamous (didn't even know until your post), I think it's only fair. I don't typically care about multiplatform but lookings at how the tubes CoD:Ghosts resolution on X1, Watch Dogs is an equally valid criticism for PS4.

The 50% more powerful GPU is not proving much powerful (not surprisingly) in less than a year since launch.

To be clear, I think it's ok if the game is sub-1080p if they manage to do what Crytek did with Ryse (still best looking imo). Sure, I will prefer 1080p but given the hardware limitations it's ok.

Although this is true, point me to one indie game which isn't the same on the X1. Strider even looks better with 16AF compared to none on the PS4 (weird one).

Personally, and just opinion mind you coming from a gamer who plays elsewhere, after the mountains of hype about 1080/60 being shoveled in pretty much anything console related, I'd be expecting it out of every game. Pretty much any article/thread you look at there's "no 1080/60? Lulz MS." Disclaimers and removed posts/backtracking just sounds awfully like cheap marketing.

I think the bigger question is... are we still uber excited for Watch Dogs? Because I see people losing their shizzle over this game, but I just don't see the hype. Is something wrong with me? :ermm:

Eh, I've gone from "Day one preorder excited" to "probably pick it up when it hits $30"

I haven't got a clue what you're talking about...60fps or death? I don't see anyone saying that so I'm going to assume you're sensationalising someone's post here and it's more sarcasm lost in translation online?

And I'm lost on the nitpicking comment too. You've taken someone at Sony's comments and are trying to apply them to the entire catalogue of games, which as I've explained isn't what he said in the first place nor is the ratio of games which are 1080/60 vs lower is true like he said it would be. Even if some games aren't 1080/60 on the PS4 and the hardware isn't capable of meeting it, it's still more performance than the X1 is mustering up so far and still favours Sony when those who care about it come to deciding which to buy.

But you've made your point about whatever it is on your mind. I think you're the only who understands it though if I'm honest. So far I see others understanding he means more games will be 1080/60, not all games.

Oh Shahid said it, I thought you meant an actual member here  My mistake, sorry. I only looked at the tweet you linked to yesterday.

I still don't agree it's a blanket statement. Clearly it's about as well thought out as some of the words that left Don's mouth last year, but his second tweet is certainly holding true and that is what is important at the end of the day. Are we going to forget everything that happens going forward and only hold MS to Adam Orth's ridiculous tweet and the comments Kaz made about the PS3 way back in the day too?

Results are what matters and if more games hit the 1080/60 "sweet spot" for console gamers, then they'll be happy. I'm sure Shahid knew back when he made those comments that not every launch PS4 game was 1080/60 on day 1 to begin with but he still posted them. I think that sums up how important it really is in context.
