WZOR Talks About Windows (Codename) 9, Is a DP Imminent?

Recommended Posts

There's no 8 after august update. Win 7 only got 1 SP, and MS has done enough damage control for Win 8 example with it's three, yes 3, updates. MS has spent tons of money on damage control and Win 8.1 is used only some 6% (5% use 8.0). Time to move on. Threshold will not be called 8 - the disaster. They are having a threshold platform for ALL devices do you think they would name it after they're biggest flop of MS's history? lol

And Win 9 or whatever it's called is not going to be free for Win 8 users. Nor 8.1. Nor 8.1.1.august or any 8. But according to MS Win 8 will receive it in an update, either from app store or most likely from Windows Update. Go chew it.

It's not that they are trying to bury 8 - it is that those who are going to upgrade to 8 (or later) already have.

Everyone else has either fallen for the FUD or has financial issues (especially considering all the clamor for a reduced-price or even free version of Windows).

Interesting blog/rumor, the funny thing is it was posted the same day Redmond voted for Windows 8.2(Threshold) as "go", and started coding:

It's quite close to what I heard, except for the "win7 start menu", I believe the writer meant "win7 type menu", as we know the new start menu's appearance and UI is quite different from the win7 start menu. :)

What the heck? They stole images from my blog... :|

Tks Brad, I heard that MS might (most) probably abandon Threshold Project(i.e. there won't be a Windows 8.2), they are expected to decide shortly. I may(or may not) hear more by end Aug or Sept., and may start a new thread, this thread's OP was on some WZor fake rumor so better ditch it.

btw, I believe MS won't say anything about Win9 before Oct., the so-called "Win9 Preview in Fall 2014" is just ...... LOL . :)

^ I don't have anything to say about that...neither for your information or against, hearing mixed things - to a certain degree.

All I know are the features that are in current builds, what marketing does with the branding...well, that's anyones guess.

Yeah, sure, I understand that. :)

Wait, what do you mean abandon Threshold? :s

If you bought the saying that Threshold is win9, just ignore what I said.

Seems MS changed plan, as shown in Windows Blog, instead of delivering win8.2, they will simply deliver everything(start menu, windowed apps, etc., ) to win8.1 thru WU. :)

Also, Brad, does the new builds still allow fullscreen apps?

Yes, but not by default . On the desktop, when you open a modern app, it is in windowed mode (previously, it was still full screen and you had to make it a window). I doubt they would remove the ability to make a modern app full screen as with virtual desktops, it works quite well.

Great Good to hear! Any news coming on the new taskbar at all next week? How about the horrific "Taskbar Properties" window, has that been streamlined at all?

Not next week, task bar still looks mostly the same from Windows 8.1

I would actualy like to see something visual, even if it's just a part of it. :)

I know everyone would but these builds are easily traceable, I can't show any of the shots that I have.

So they voted to "go" with Threshold on August 1 and a week later they're about to decide whether to scrap it? (and most likely will?)

Surprise !!

Edit: now is after breakfast, maybe a little bit of follow-up: MS has frequent "group meetings", and it was in the recent group meetings, people has the "impression" that there is a (high) probability that, like what's said in Windows Blog, the new features will be released as WU for win8.1, and win8.2 would no longer be required. After-all, the start menu and windowed apps shown in BUILD was done on a 9600, and was intended to be a feature for Windows 8.1 with Update.

Edit2: Oh, a little bit more of rumor, take it with salt: Those rumors of "Threshold features", or what people called "Win9 features", don't be surprised if on a patch Tue you find them as optional updates in your win8.1. :)

According to Brad, there's not much difference between the current builds and Win 8.1

Well, depends on what is 'not much' every week they are adding new features (roughly) like virtual desktops, charms bars moving away, cortana...so it is different.

I wish they would leak a picture or something before the developer preview.

Not worth the risk IMHO, it still looks a lot like what they showed off at BUILD but with more features.

I expect screenshots at least as we get closer to winter, still too early.  Leaking a build is very hard now but if not a full desktop screenshot then a cropped bit showing some of the new stuff should be possible to post without it being traced back later on once more OEMs etc have builds, because at that point it'll be hard to track.  Right now I figure because it's so early in the process only a select few have specific builds with the new things in them, so that narrows down the list of leakers quite a bit.

Just have to wait, I think it makes it more exciting though.

In your opinion, is it "enough"?

I mean, enough to combat OSX Yosemite, shake off the Windows h8?

And is the charms able to be reactivated?
