+Warwagon MVC Posted February 20, 2014 MVC Share Posted February 20, 2014 I was just looking around at some Windows 8 tablets. The one thing I like the most about my iPad is the 4:3 aspect. Sure 16:9 by is MUCH better for watching movies and maybe for snapping stuff to the side of the screen, but I really like 4:3. So my question to you is, if someone made a 4:3 Windows 8 tablet (and it looks like nobody does) would you buy one? As far as laptops go I did buy on eBay the very last 4:3 laptop ever made :D
Max Norris
Not saying they shouldn't make them as obviously there's going to be some who do like it, but nah, not for me. Last 4:3 anything I bought was years ago, no desire to lose usable screen space, never mind the poor multimedia presentation. Even my junk XP tablet from almost a decade ago was widescreen, never once wished it had a 4:3 display.
Lord Method Man
Probably not. The only time I think I would prefer 4:3 is in portrait mode, which I would only use for reading ebooks, which I can do just fine on my Kindle already. No need for a full feature tablet just for that.
jakem1
A 4:3 Windows tablet wouldn't be capable of using many of the best features in Windows 8 including the split screen multitasking. That, IMO, would make it useless.
Dot Matrix
2004 called. It wants its aspect ratio back. I can't see myself going anywhere near 4:3 ever again. DJGM 1 Share
Anthony Tosie Veteran Posted February 20, 2014 Veteran Share Posted February 20, 2014 Probably not. It would severely cripple multitasking. I also prefer media (movies and games) at 16:9.
+Warwagon MVC Posted October 17, 2014 Author MVC Share Posted October 17, 2014 HOLY Thread resurrection batman ... Well its my thread, so :p People thought, 4:3 was not good for anything and obsolete, yet Google and Apple are both using it :) Might have to get myself a Nexus 9.
