Bryan R.
The transparency of the tiles and the rich background really do make it look a lot more polished. subcld and Brandon H 2 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1202753-my-little-wp-concept/#findComment-596285791 Share on other sites

George P Global Moderator Posted February 27, 2014 Global Moderator Share Posted February 27, 2014 Well, we know how the action center will work and there's hints about backgrounds but we haven't seen them yet in any leaks. I like the backgrounds you have going there with the little transparency which is a nice touch. I think it's better not to have to go back to the start screen to click on something to access that me center though. To be honest the drop down method we will get is the best way to do it because you don't have to leave an app. subcld 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1202753-my-little-wp-concept/#findComment-596285851 Share on other sites
Dot Matrix
What's with the power tile? That looks awful. Users are not going to reboot their phones like they do their other devices. Nor would the OS just reboot itself automatically. What if you were in the middle of an important call? Also, I personally think that concept is way too busy. 123456789A
Interesting concept, but on the 2nd and 3rd pics, I guess you're assuming that everyone in the contacts list has a picture assigned to them. What happens if they don't have one? Also, I don't think you need to spell out 'facebook' 'whatsapp' etc. since the icon already tells you where it's from. subcld and Quikboy 2 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1202753-my-little-wp-concept/#findComment-596286175 Share on other sites
Ezekiel Carsella
While it could be more minimal, but the backgrounds are really cool. The little User tile is a nice idea and would be great if you could log out of your account and log in to another MSFT account with your apps being switched. Just a thought though. subcld 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1202753-my-little-wp-concept/#findComment-596286177 Share on other sites
Kyang
More than transparency of backgrounds, I want a way to invoke a tile to flip, because sitting and staring at the weather tile, waiting for it to flip around so I can see the forecast is just one of the things that prevent me from completely buying into the concept of the Start Screen as the notification area. The rumored swipe from left to clear a tile count for WP 8.1 is something I feel is greatly underrepresented in posts about 8.1 leaks. Regarding the transparency, I don't like it, but if it must be there, it should probably be translucent instead, like the glass was in Aero. Straight transparency is just makes things look cluttered. subcld 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1202753-my-little-wp-concept/#findComment-596286195 Share on other sites

Nothing like killing your battery, by installing a battery meter. No thanks. The indicator at the top works fine for me. Stokkolm
I like it a lot, especially the start screen. I could also see the usefulness of your control center there and MS could make that work inside of an app that's already open by just swiping from the side instead of down or up. subcld 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1202753-my-little-wp-concept/#findComment-596286259 Share on other sites
Kyang
Some more thoughts. All the elements in the control center should probably following the same spacing and margins as the rest of the OS. Actually the elements don't even consistently align with each other just within the control center. Also, why is one of the notifications on top , followed by some facebook buttons, then with "settings" thrown in (Is that for FB settings or OS settings?) followed by other notifications? Is the most recent notification automatically put on top? They should probably be put together. The AM/PM in the upper left clock written "a.m.", while the time in notifications is written "am" without the periods. I'd pick one and stick with it. Saying "Twitter", "Facebook", etc, is redundant with the service icons already over each friend's avatar. One or the other. The "name" for the user button on the start screen is aligned with the middle of the avatar, while the text for everything else is aligned with the lower edge. This is another consistency issue, and again I'd recommend picking one way and sticking with it. Facebook starts with a capital letter in the upper notification, while the service names are written in all lower case for the other notifications. subcld 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1202753-my-little-wp-concept/#findComment-596286283 Share on other sites

Kyang
How do your notifications deal with text overflow? Each one in your mockups are all extremely short one liners. Will they be cut off with ellipses, fade off, etc? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1202753-my-little-wp-concept/#findComment-596286297 Share on other sites
