Stealthy_Singh
Hi all. I have an issue with my 6D. I can see an artifact in the viewfinder but this does not show up in any photos taken. I have taken a photo on my phone through the viewfinder and outlined it. It is just above the far right autofocus point.I thought it might be a hair on the viewfinder and tried to clean it. This did not remove or even move it. Is this within the camera? If so any ideas how I can shift it or should I take it to a camera shop and have them take a look. I don't want to void the warranty! This is not the kind of photo I envisaged on posting in this forum :p Thanks. Top Qat
It's probably a mark on the mirror. Won't affect picture quality. Be careful cleaning inside with the lens off, very delicate stuff. I noticed it a while ago and tried to ignore it but it's getting distracting! Top Qat
What I would do (and have done in the past) is use a soft micro-fiber lens cleaning cloth. Put it over something long and thin like a pen (use thick blunt end), then gently wipe over the mirror. Finish off with compressed air, not too close with the nozzle. Draconian Guppy
hmmm carefull cleaning the mirror, its not a straightfoward process as it would seem. I've had artifacts in viewfinder in all of my three dSLRS (D50, D5000 and now D600), you either send it to get cleaned at a store that does so or learn to live with it ( I did the latter)/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1206175-artifact-in-viewfinder/#findComment-596326119 Share on other sites

Stealth, do you change lens often? lol. How often is often? I didn't used to switch lenses. But recently when I've started to use my camera outside of work I switch from my 100mm macro to my 35-105mm. I switch maybe 2-3 times in a week at the most at this stage. Draconian Guppy
I dunno, but I don't change lens that much (usually 50mm or 85 on D600 and 35mm on D5000) and dust in the viewfinder is just impossible to avoid if you ask me. TAZMINATOR
I have D5000 and I have not had a problem with mine so far. If you are not sure how to take care of that... Go to your local camera store and they will do for you. Stealthy_Singh
Went to Jessops. The guy advised to use one of those hand pumped air blowers and it did the job. No touching of any parts. Problem solved. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1206175-artifact-in-viewfinder/#findComment-596330001 Share on other sites
