Could you share your wallpaper ( i guess you are running OS X Yosemite beta?), the OS X wallpaper seems to be bright and match retina display than the other wallpapers i found online. I have a 2560x1440 monitor and in Jpeg my screens are around 500kb. I have the tasbar shown on all screens at the moment with the applications showing on the screens they are open in.
