PS4 Best-Selling Console For Fifth Month In A Row, Video Game Surge Overall

As expected, the NPD report for May has brought with it another US victory for the PS4 in the current-gen console war. Sony ascendant machine was the top-selling console in the US for the fifth month straight, showing no signs of slowing down thus far. NPD doesn?t provide specific sales numbers for hardware, but Microsoft didn?t provide any of its own analysis on Xbox Wire this month, so we can assume the gap is widening.

As I mentioned in the front page post, anything else would've been surprising. I assume Xbox One sales were pretty poor as people held off on purchasing one after the new SKU was announced in April.

Edit: That appears to have been mentioned explicitly in the article, just not posted here.

For a second there i thought Forbes was talking about a real world conflict somewhere. War, surge, ascendant...next thing you know X1 owners will be referred to as insurgents.

Forbes is basically a financial/money mag it covers investments, sales, technology, etc. They aren't a newspaper or news magazine that covers say conflicts around the world or one of the kardasians having a baby or what not. They specifically cover financial news.

The article you linked to is European markets, original post just refers to US market with NPD data.

PS4 is doing well. It's about the only thing Sony has which isn't circling the drain.

Still interesting nonetheless. We don't seem to realize since we already have PS4's much more readily available here that there are still shortages elsewhere.

Hopefully, they can get the situation handled on the global end of it. I mean, they have until what... September? Should be plenty of time.

As for the US, I'm curious to see what June and July look like. Xbox Ones are actually starting to sell finally. However, the pathetic part of it is that our store only has the Kinectless versions available now. I thought we were going to go on selling both SKUs, but we don't have any Kinect-bundled XBOs atm.

Not shocked that would happen in some places. Some stores simply don't want to make the effort to sell the Kinect bundle even though it can be sold.

#sorry

No need for sorry hahaha, please don't cry, if you cry, i cry :D

As for stores preferring to sell bare X1's only, i don't blame them. I think this is what everyone wanted from the beginning - including retailers. The hope was for Kinect to be an option, though when MS decided against that everyone sort of accepted the situation and moved on. Now that it's actually an option, everyone's jumping on it.
