Boot To TV is a big deal in my opinion. Its a small feature, but this really opens up the console to much more usage as a media device.

For the non techie, that means a lot less hassle when trying to get to tv, so the X1 can more easily be used by the whole family.

@DirtyLarry sorry to hear about you and your famlies trouble with X1. Your situation however is a prime example as when to not opt-in to a prevew program. With preview you may as well think Beta. Stuff might not work or get broken and fixed again that is the nature of a preview. You install a preview you have to accept there is a risk that something might break.

I'm not very happy right now... it appears the Preview Program has killed the wireless capabilities of my Xbox One. I can't see any network in my house -- not the Internet router, not the additional router, and I can't even tether my smartphone. I haven't seen any posts about this on the official forums, so I guess I get to endure yet another fun call with Xbox support.  :/

Edit: Strike that, it appears there is a topic on the issue... maybe they'll resolve it soon enough...

Wow that sucks. I have yet to hit any major bugs while in the preview program.

To be honest, the Xbox feels more complete now than it did about 3-4months ago.

Looks like the OS & Kinect also received some tweaks under the hood as well.

Kinect not only hears me even better now than ever, but games and apps also switch swiftly and open a tad but quicker.

I've been signed up for a while myself and haven't gotten in. On the positive side of things, the updates come out almost every month (two in August) so they are working hard to push them out quickly. I expect a few more big changes before leading into the holiday season.

Well that would require a new harmony device to support something like that. It would require MS leveraging the IR blasting capabilities of Kinect to send a signal to a Harmony remote, which would then send a single to whatever device you wanted to control. It would be simpler to just build in control support for a bunch of devices and not even use a harmony remote. So it could be done, but its not a quick thing to implement.

The newer harmony remotes with a WiFi base station like the one I have can do a lot of stuff without IR blasting and can receive commands back from devices, even control the cursor on the WiiU from the touch pad on the remote among other things.

Guys I need some help! I was invited for the preview and I enrolled. My registration on the console is showing pending but I'm still getting the preview updates. What's up with that? I just did the enrollment two days back btw.

Edit - if guys want to get invited, pls let me know and I will push them out instantly.

you guys invited me (freejac1310) to the preview program  back in September but its almost November and it still hasn't come through. Do I just have to continue to wait?

Yes, You will have to wait for the next preview release...

Keep this in mind that XBOX has recieved billion invites to take care of...    If you have not recieved next month preview, then you will not be invited this year ... maybe next year.
