I must be blind, where exactly is the setting for Summary View, please?  I'm not seeing it.

Thank you zhangm and Timan.  I already set that, but thought it was called "List View" and there was some mysterious other Summary View I wasn't finding.

Is there a setting to see ALL the articles in one list, with news and software mixed together?

I unfollowed all the other topics because more than half made comments about features that are still there.

It's this sort commenting that makes me wonder if general feedback from everyone is being taken on board at all. :/

(More notably, after the new site has been deployed.)

Edit:

As was mentioned earlier, subs were given early access, and provided feedback. They didn't just make this up on a whim and deploy it.

Post updated to reflect this.

Ever since Neowin was bought out, owners really haven't cared about user feedback.

So the multitude of employees answering questions in the few threads about this means nothing? Just because they don't implement a suggestion you make doesn't mean they don't care about your feedback. It means they've made a decision. They don't have to bend to your will because you don't like that decision, but it doesn't mean they don't care.

The first mockup (which BTW still had a rounded icon) has a bar like design with like previously links and the Neowin logo on a separate row. It was large and dated as the forums UI is right now. The Main Page's top bar is thinner than ever before, even if you do NOT factor in the NEWS FORUM MORE CONTACT row with the previous design.

I think they are bringing back notification functionality on the MP (which we could not test as there were not forums or notifications working within the preview), so they most defiantly are listening to feedback. I doubt the colors will change (they are better than the ugly blue gray of the forums) and the expanded width is NOT coming back, rather a third row (according to Timan is this thread or another one) MAY be added.

The top bar is the perfect size and the font is easy on the eyes. The only thing I would fix besides the notifications are the top images (make them slightly smaller) but not too small as the purpose of those are big beautiful images for future articles.

Have added that links do not parse in article comments in our bug thread.

Please also try to remember that with every site update the forums have always come later, because despite what some people are saying, we do listen for feedback, and we want to ensure all the features and bugs are ironed out before we port it over to the forums. If we didn't do this then we would be creating double work for ourselves  to "fix" stuff from main and the forums.

One example is putting back the notifications feed, we need to find a spot for that, add it so it works properly and then also ensure it goes in the forum port properly.

You are also right that we don't always listen to individual complaints, we do listen to a majority feedback though, and as for unfollowing some of the topics, who wants to read complaints about not being able to find features that are still there and in many cases, the exact same spot as before the upgrade..

Will the eventual board upgrade be responsive as well?

Yes because IPB4 is fully responsive, right now we will just ensure that the header and footer nav is responsive between desktop and mobile mode on IPB3.x

IPB4 is expected to come out before the end of the year, as preview has already started on the official IPS forums, it's usually around 3-4 months after when releases start to happen.

The site ignores my browser's request to switch to the desktop site. This MUST be fixed, it's just broken functionality.

The mobile site lacks many features such as liking and editing comments.

Also apparently there's String(20) "Too many connections" string(20) "Too many connections" string(20) "Too many connections" string(18) "Connection refused" string(18) "Connection refused" string(18) "Connection refused" string(18) "Connection refused" string(18) "Connection refused".

1 > If I'm correct, the mobile site is responsive. So it's not WAP. That way, any sized screen could switch to any size without any problem, so you won't able to switch to desktop site.

2 > Devs still fixing the issue related to the new site. Maybe soon, we'll see something like that.

First, you can't do translucency on a website

Just FYI, yes you can. Not being picky or anything, just want to make that clear.

However, unless the original post meant transparency elsewhere and i misunderstood, it's pretty nasty.

One question though,  what does it look like now when you get a notification on the main page?

Main page does not have "Notification" yet but the forum page has the "Notification" alert but the link to it is a blank white page.

I can't promise anything, but I HAVE seen things relating to a dark theme.

Don't you deprive us from our wish :p
