What's that message at the top of the forums? We're upgrading

Recommended Posts

We've already stated a few times, notifications will be looked at in the future. They always come later. Right now (sadly :() we have some bigger issues backend wise we need to look at first.

That's no worries.  I just wanted to make sure you knew, as some of the feedback threads were moving along pretty quick!

It seems to only be that post.  All my other notifications load as they normally would.

I just want to say in my defense that I don't hate the design. I'm adjusting to it and think it looks pretty good.

I merely commented on that banner. Also, you can like the theme for the most part but dislike a component, so marching out the poll figure it a tad meaningless.

Either way, looks good, merely wanted to clarify my position.

can we have gfycat instead of gif please since you guys are upgrading.

it is faster & smaller & saves bandwidth.

currently gif are supported[just paste]

but gfycat are not.

Or we could drop support for animated avatars and sigs altogether. that'd be better.

The better question would be implementing a switch to disable avatars and signatures in the user CP. I like doing this sometimes when I'm at work.

I would've thought IPB had this support from the get go, but a quick glance seems to suggest otherwise.

To the whiners about notifications:

There is an issue, let's say I'm logged in with my account, when I go to a member's profile and click comments, it takes me to a blank page. But mine works fine and logged out viewing the same comments by this member link I can view their comments.

Hmm, I see the notification link, but not the list menu. How do I get the list menu shown in your screenshot?

The speech bubble next to your avatar (if it's not there, do a hard refresh a couple of times , CTRL + ALT + R, or CTRL F5) click that and the list above appears.

Just noticed the notifications myself this morning. Fantastic. I honestly expected it to be a while before we saw the notifications being added :D

Notifications are back and cool. Probably make then with a different color than white, to make them more visible.

And I know you are working hard very hard at this, but I hope the notifications + comments hashtags be back soon. the #comment-id=123 was really cool.

On opera-mini 4.x/7.x/8.x

comments are broken.

Is it on your to-do list?

earlier comments were shown fine & could reply too but now comments are not shown.

Please Fix this as most of the time replying to comments is not possible at all.

go complain to Opera Mini devs. it's their fault for not including basic javascript functionality

I am complaining to neowin for that.

They should do better to support all browsers.

Operamini does whats it is supposed to do.

If it was chrome that would have been different.

so Neowin should hold themselves back because 1 browser out of 6+ other major browsers doesn't want to support basic functionality?

No but they should look after them too.

I'm not sure the way it works it can support this "basic" functionality.

basic is btw text images and layout.

Hawkman, nothing is stopping them from reading the news portion of the site.

Comments are secondary content.

uc browser

nokia browser

operamini

The news portion is not rendered properly too.

Comments are a very important part of neowin. no?

I actually have to agree here. If the browser(s) can't support what'd required to render the site, then it might be best to just label them as unsupported.

Wow! That's worse looking than X10 Home Automation's site! :o

HAHA.. I remember them ... their layout was like this when I visited  their site that time:

http://web.archive.org/web/20040201214158/http://www.x10.com/homepage.htm

Now, they have improved since. Their today's site is looking better.

I used to look for the cameras on their site in the past..

I'm surprised such a  senior member has decided to bump this :/

Someone posted this post link in OP... I clicked on it and I read this thread...

There you have it: https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1244002-darkside-theme-for-forums/

I didn't mean to bump this thread.. Who cares if someone bump the thread..  Not my fault.

I don't care if someone bump the thread as long as he/she is doing good. no personal attack or anything bad.
