TGS 2014: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Quiet Trailer

Wow, Kojima sure does know how to inject weird into any game he makes.

I think it feels especially strange for this game since the visuals are so realistic and the settings seem so serious. I get a very serious, 'real' feeling from the aesthetics and yet you get things like horses flying into the sky with weather balloons that scream silly and strange. I know MGS has always had that type of stuff, but for some reason it feels more at odds with the surroundings then previous games.

Of course, they made sure to show off the new sniper, Quiet, with a flashy entrance and close up

This is one of those games that I'm on the fence about. The visuals are great and the gameplay looks ok, but it hasn't reached a must buy level for me yet.

I'm a huge fan of the MGS series, but each one seems to get weirder...actually, what was weird in MGS3? I can't remember anything special (other than the usual) but I'm sure there was something.

I agree, it does seem to get more and more weird. It started out with subtle things that you either found as an easter egg, or surprising plot elements. Now its fool on silliness with the game play mechanics, dialog, etc, etc.

After watching a couple of gameplay demos and the red band trailer of the game, i must say this is going to be a PS4/Xbox 1 seller, no doubt about it. The new character, Quiet, it's very interesting, to say the least; she already has that "legend" traits like de-materialise (and the gorgeous renders of her are 100% fan service) and the fact that she is mute, may show and assist you depending on the stuff you do per mission and the mysterious background story adds more to her. She is a much need asset since the departure of Sniper Wolf.

About the weirdness of MGS: it's the directors "watermark"; remember that this is a game where being in a box hidden from enemies is part of the game :D

Having said that, this MGS touches some very obscure themes like children soldiers, the cruelty that happens during conflicts and more; in the trailer there was some very disturbing scenes that i think are too much for a kid to watch (i know it's not the audience but unfortunately kids are going to play it anyway) and i really don't know if it's the trend of MGS or this is just an exception (i just played the first one in the PS1).

If i had an Xbox 1 or PS4 this would be my MUST BUY game.

Wolf companion gameplay from TGS

reminds me alot of Dogmeat http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Dogmeat_(Fallout)
