Blllleeeehhh, I HATED the original grey colour, so dreary like a dull rainy day, heck beige is a nicer colour. I loved the white of the PSOne though :)

Woah zero effort put into this... Even the headset being in grey just screams only a lick of paint to the console... ;)

That site looks dodgy

so what are doing now, are they are giving you a chance to win one or the chance to win a ticket to buy one?

It's a legit site/comp. It was all over Twitter this morning:

It would be sweet if it was painted in matte black.

Grey is 'meh'

Black would look nice but then it wouldn't be a 20th anniversary edition PS4. It's based on the grey of the original PS1.

I know that...   Besides grey does not look good if it sits with along the devices in my entertainment center that they are all black.

Sony should use 3 colors: black, white, grey so the user can pick the color when ordering.

3 colours compromising of 12,300 units would be a bit of a nightmare. How do they split it up worldwide? How do competitions get done, first winner gets to choose, later winners just get stuck with whatever colour is left? How do they tie black and white to the PS1? Most people will want grey in this case as it symbolises the PS1. So for the scalpers black/white is never going to be worth as much as grey either lol.

Plus the costs to do 3 colours of these units off of the production lines would be more than just one colour. It's not like they're selling it at an inflated RRP, with all the accessories the price isn't far off $499. There will be no reprints or long term need for production lines to produce engraved cases or even use this colour.

This is a very low print specialist PS4, people aren't going to be ordering this for more than 60 seconds (if even that) when the order page goes up for whatever units aren't used in competitions, or sold at this weekends event.

From the front page article to forums it just seems like some of Neowin get the wrong impression of what this is. It's not a new holiday bundle at $499, it's not a new version of the PS4, and it's not even a new colour you can pickup a PS4 in. 99% of PS gamers will never get one, and half of them will never even hear of this unit. It's simply to celebrate the PS1, and the best way Sony thought they could do that was make the PS4 look like a PS1. It's ugly to some, looks good to others, and for the rest it's something to buy and keep sealed for 3 years and watch the value "triple".
