During the PlayStation Experience God of War retrospective, God of War II director Cory Barlog confirmed a new God of War is in development.

Sony Santa Monica teased and then confirmed the "announcement" on twitter. Barlog directed God of War II, but left the studio following the release of the game. This marks his return to Kratos' universe.

Barlog's announcement explains the sweater worn by president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America Shawn Laydon (seen above) and many others this morning.

I've played the last 2 of these games and I've always loved them.

 

However I really didn't like God of war online. It should stay as a single player game. God of war online just didn't work in my opinion.  

 

I just hope this one is as good as the last one.

Not another prequel I hope.

I know some had reported that he confirmed it would not be a prequel (link).

 

Really looking forward to see what they come out with, as I've always enjoyed the games, though Ascension probably was my least favorite.

I was hard on Ascension for the rapid pace they were churning out sequels and the inclusion of MP where it wasn't needed; but the game was excellent and gameplay tight as ever (Y)

 

So long as the quality doesn't lower, I'll keep buying them :) Really looking forward to the new game!

Did you complete it? It's still in my back catalogue of shame. I even bought the collectors edition with figure as I got it for like ?26 on Amazon.

No, I was distracted by something as always but have been dying to get back to it. Determined not to let it go unfinished.

 

Half way or more through it, so won't take long. Although the series is one I've always savoured.

Although I think Greek Mythology has a lot of gods so there is probably enough for another game.
